my latest update on my very competent father (seriously this man used to be a doctor) moving to Costa Rica without doing more than 10% of the necessary research: his medications (and my mom's) are expensive. because he has to pay for everything out of pocket and CR's cost of living is lower than the USA but it ain't THAT low (although his definition of "expensive" is $1000 every 3 months which frankly could be a lot worse, ask me sometime about the inhaler which was $440/month with my previous job's insurance)
sending medication through the mail internationally is VERY complicated so his solution is that he'll get a 90 day supply of all his meds picked up by one of us, his children, at a local pharmacy, and we'll FLY DOWN TO SEE HIM with it. every 3 months.
