It's not without precedent. In 1997, the Conservative MP for Tatton and all round tosspot, Neil Hamilton, had a scandal in which he received money for taking easy questions. His constituents loathed him. 1997 was the year of the general election in which Labour and Lib Dem candidates would stand against the Tories in what was considered a very safe Tory seat. But then BBC War Correspondent Martin Bell announced he would stand as an Independent candidate running only on two policies: he wasn't Neil Hamilton and he would only stand for one term. The Labour and Lib Dem candidates withdrew leaving Neil running only against Martin.

Martin Bell won that election with a majority of over 11,000 votes and a swing to Independent of 48% away from the Conservatives.

Defeated, Neil Hamilton was ejected from the Conservative party and fucked around until 2011, when he joined UKIP, the party that gave us Brexit run by...you guessed it...the cunt that's now running against a bin.

Martin Bell served one term, as promised, and vacated the seat in 2001 at that General Election. He went to another constituency where another Tory MP had been accused of dodgy dealings. He didn't win, but he did come 2nd, after which Mr Bell retired from politics saying that "winning one and losing one is not a bad record for an amateur."

For example a bluebird is a bird that is blue. A birdblue would I suppose be a blue that is bird but it certainly doesn’t mean the same thing as bluebird whatever it is.

An airplane is a plane that is in the air. A planeair just isn’t anything. Maybe it would be the air inside of a plane.

Or perhaps it would be plane air with a space in it. Because we kind of just make compound words all the time like Germans do but sometimes we put a space in there. Where you put the space kind of doesn’t stop it from being a compound word.

in the latter interpretation, these deities represent wide breadths of emotional and material concepts. for example, despite being commonly portrayed as a goddess of blood and destruction in modern media, the goddess "red" actually has more positive associations than negative.

Media where it is made explicitly clear that the hero cannot and should not kill the villain, but then kills the villain off anyways for reasons beyond the hero’s control in order to facilitate a happy ending, directly imply that death is a natural and deserved consequence of evil actions AND an acceptable resolution towards peace, which completely undermines the hero’s arguments otherwise.

Having the hero say “murder is wrong so I will not kill you” while the bad guy goes “your compassion is meaningless, I’ve learned nothing” only for a building to fall on the bad guy and kill him is cop-out fantasy fulfillment for those of us who in theory condone capital punishment but cannot reconcile it with our own self-image of the compassionate pacifist, and broadly represents our frustration that there are, in fact, conflicts that cannot be resolved by “good” people

Murder is wrong, but it is less wrong to allow someone else who will murder more people in the long run continue to live, especially if the hero knows for a fact that this person will do this.

This isn't about Capitol Punishment. I don't know if we should be letting the State kill people, because that seems unwise. The State is based on our own human foibles and biases and that seems like a good way to make sure a lot of innocent minorities get killed.

Sure, killing is regrettable, and if you have any other options, you should explore them. But sometimes, you just don't. Sometimes, killing is the only option to actually solve the problem. And if you have no other viable options to prevent further harm, killing is morally justified.

When the two myth-cycles were fused by later chroniclers to produce the combined Link-Zelda cycle which is familiar to audiences today, the figure of Link assumed the role of overall protagonist. Securing Zelda's freedom from captivity is often inserted as a secondary objective into episodes which were originally Link tales, while Link typically subsumes most or all of Zelda's role in episodes which were originally Zelda tales.

In many cases, the Link-Zelda version is the only iteration of a given episode which survives, so determining which tales were originally part of which precursor cycle is not without controversy; however, the repetitive nature of the perils which preclude Zelda's active participation in many episodes – kidnapped, possessed, sealed in enchanted crystal, etc. – may offer some clues.

For example, it's said that Link is a wanderer from afar who rescues Impa from Moblins but when he arrives in Hyrule, he has to take the place of the unarmed and inexperienced Princess Zelda. And so this allegedly experienced warrior who just killed a bunch of Moblins arrives in Hyrule without so much as a sword in hand.

Similarly, the original myth featured Zelda assembling the Triforce of Wisdom, the only force that could stand against the Triforce of Power in Ganon's possession. Because it was the first to be adapted, there were concerns about disempowering Zelda by replacing her entirely with Link. As a result, a strange compromise was struck; One in which Zelda, after assembling the Triforce, then immediately broke it back down into its component pieces and re-hid them for Link to find.

By contrast, The Adventure of Link, true to its name, is the first Link legend. The importing of Zelda into it as the sleeping princess that Link awakens from her long slumber proved to be just as clunky as the importing of Link into The Legend of Zelda. Most notably, the confusing questions raised as to whether Zelda is meant to be the princess Link rescued in his previous adventure or the one he is rescuing in this new one.

Similarly, Zelda's nemesis Ganon is roped into Adventure of Link very awkwardly. Link's nemesis is his own dark shadow, with only a scant few mentions of the idea that Link's defeat will somehow result in Ganon returning... just because.

But the largest and most consequential of adaptations made to The Adventure of Link is the revising of the magic scepter Link uses to awaken the Sleeping Princess into the Triforce of Courage, a modern invention meant to tie Link more closely to Zelda and Ganon's mythos.

And there are some distinct quirks to the Gamelon cycle that argue for the presence of syncretic merging of the Zelda in the tales we know with a similar legend from another culture. As does the difference between the Triforce of Wisdom, her sometimes status as a Sage, and the Sacred Power/Light Force/etc power that has different names in different legends.

But it's an interesting pairing of a Celestial legend (Zelda) with a Cthonic one (Link) - after all, how many of the stories that clearly are originally Link tales involve another world? I submit as evidence the presence of stories such as Link to the Past and Majora's Mask; even in the Era of Twlight cycle, we see a previous version of Link resurrected as a shade.

I believe this for two main reasons. The first is that it contains many elements seen in other Link stories, such as having to collect three relics (usually represented with Green, Red and Blue. Such as The Ocarina Of Time's Spiritual Stones, or The Wind Waker's Pendants), a fae or fae-like companion (Such as Navi, Ezlo, or Midna), the "two worlds" framing (Like the Past and Future in The Ocarina of Time, Twilight Realm and Hyrule in The Tale of the Twilight Princess, or even the Sunken Hyrule and the Great Sea in The Wind Waker) or how strictly it clings to the traditional Dungeon structure compared to almost every single other surviving tale in the Zelda-Link cycle.

But I believe the largest piece of evidence towards The Ballad of Skyward Sword being originally a Link tale is that it documents the creation of the Master Sword, Link's primary weapon of choice in most of his tales (The Saga of the Four Sword aside).
