Est's Stupid Blagthing

I did a playthrough of this game a long time ago, never got around to postan some of the twitter doodles I did here. I’ll include the DLC doodles I did too, honestly La-mulana 2 isn’t as re-playable as the 1st game.

pokemon researchers have had to suss this out on their own over decades, and it's a really unpopular theory, made worse by the fact that no one can come up with a better one. from their perspective pokemon generate spontaneously but in both chronological directions, and the similarities of many pokemon seem to be detived from a conscious and creative understanding of the world--their world, though? what other world could there be?. there are ice cream pokemon and pokeball pokemon and sword pokemon and trash bag pokemon.

there are so many pokemon with both wings and a beak. is this like swords? is there an ur-flying type that this class evokes? there are so many canine pokemon. but what is a canine? is there such a thing? there's only one set of sword pokemon, right. one tea-set line. is *feline* a coherent category? would the ur-feline have two legs or four? why do so many pokemon have humanlike bodyplans-- but then again, why so few?

pichu has always been the prior form of pikachu. why didn't it get counted in order? why do we call it that instead of saying pikachu is the middle evolution of the pichu line? why can so many trainers remember finding this out well into their journeys? why didn't ash start with one?

It took years for NJ to finish legalizing weed after the public and the legislature basically agreed it should be done, but THIS IS WHY it took so damned long. Because people were actually trying to do justice.

And so it is with the fucking wizard game. You can say whatever you like about "remaining neutral" or "not getting involved" or "just trying to have fun", but at the end of the day, you're signalling to bigots that you're a friend to them and that you share their beliefs. Literal nazis have been showing up at anti-trans rallies, TERFs have been quoting fucking Mein Kampf at their gatherings, and they're just delighted to see you playing the fucking wizard game. They'll be nodding to each other and patting each other on the back for having spotted another of their own in the wild whether you share their bigotry or not.

find anything. does warm water feel good? stand in the shower and carefully hold that warm water feeling, feel as much of that feels good feeling as you can, memorize its face, remember it later, look forward to it next time. Anything, the sweetness of a peice of candy, the salty taste of a french fry, the softness of a fleece blanket, the relief from taking off shoes at the end of a long day..

Classification: People are divided into “us and them”

Symbolization: People are forced to identify themselves

Discrimination: People begin to face systematic discrimination

Dehumanization: People equated with animals, vermin, or diseases

Organization: The government creates specific groups (police, military, etc) to enforce the policies

Polarization: The government broadcasts propaganda to turn the populace against the group

Preparation: Official action to remove or relocate people

Persecution: Beginning of murders, theft of property, trial massacres

Extermination: Wholesale elimination of the group. It is “extermination” and not murder because the people are not considered human.

Denial: The government denies that it has committed any crime

Basically any Californian in the Bay Area or LA:

man, narrating in russian: Every fucking year, this time of the year, the pond at my backyard gets infested. What do ponds get infested with? Frogs? Poisonous weeds? Geese? No. Not my pond.

[The man opens the back door, stepping out into a garden. Three or four nude, human-like figures dash from the borders of a pond back into the water.]

man: Rusalki! I don't know where they come from or how they get here, and I can't afford to hire an exterminator every year. I can't let my cat outside anymore. Last year a rusalka managed to drown a whole deer in my pond, the stench was unbearable.

[He walks as he speaks, approaching the pond. There are several eerily beautiful female beings peering at him from under the surface, their long hair floating in the murky water. Their eyes are gleaming in an unhuman way. The man holding the camera stops to film them.]

man, calm and deadpan: What the fuck are all of you staring at. Get jobs or something.

[One of the rusalki, smaller than the others and clearly not a fully matured adult, slowly reaches out of the water with her white, thin hand, grasping his ankle. He appears unconcerned.]

man: You can't drown me, you little idiot. You're too small. Shoo!

[A loud thud startles the rusalki, making them scatter. A second thud makes it clear these are the approaching footsteps of something massive. The man turns around and points the camera at what appears to be a house, walking past above the treeline with chicken-like legs]
