But I’d love a fic where one or both of Shane’s parents drop by the cottage for phone charger/laundry pod reasons and find Shane snuggled on the couch fast asleep on Ilya’s chest and that’s how they find out

They’re dressed in soft casual clothes, sleeping like the dead and wrapped around each other like vines and Ilya’s hand is in Shane’s hair and Shane looks so so comfortable and relaxed

Been So Long Since He Called Your Name by @goldenraeofsun (7k, M) - after ilya’s plane crashed and he had to survive in the woods, he reunites with shane at the cottage, but shane is acting very weird… fic is a lot less depressing than the tags make it sound and is actually very sweet! (I think this actually just hit 10k hits but shhhh)

go walk into your dawn by @astronomical-fog (9.9k, T) - ilya invites cliff over to tell him he’s moving to ottawa. usually read cliff as a silly character so this is a very nice exploration of cliff having genuine emotions about his bestie and captain leaving the team and revealing a massive secret.

Enough by @complicatedsquishy (25k, T, locked) - shane is worried he’s not a good omega for ilya and tries to fix himself, not realizing just how distressing that is for ilya. love fics where shane gets to be a non-traditional omega, and this one is special bc he doesn’t hate his gender, he’s just worried about how ilya will feel

things that go bump in the night by orangemoons (29k, M) - shane hunts feral vampires, ilya is a vampire who sometimes swoops in to help, and they can’t stop sleeping together. but there are greater forces than they realize trying to keep them apart. honestly i went a little feral over this fic. the plot is so juicy and i am flabbergasted it isn’t more popular, this fandom is sleeping on supernatural aus!! (heed the tags, this does get dark at parts)

Compromised by @ggfj84 (30k, M) - shane is a secret agent captured by the russian mafia and ilya is tasked with extracting info from him. this is complicated by the fact they are in a relationship and in love. intrigue! suspense! plot twists! this fic kept me on the edge of my seat (heed the tags)

Ilya always had been a light sleeper, so no matter how lightly they stepped he was awake moments after the first shocked gasp.

Ilya knows it’s over for him. There’s no mistaking that there’s a man asleep on his chest in a clearly non-platonic cuddle. Usually Ilya would be punching the intruder, threatening violence to try and ensure they kept their mouth shut but he has quickly realised something far more important. With the way they are sleeping, Ilya on his underneath on his back and Shane on his stomach on top with his face pressed into the gap between Ilya’s neck and the couch, they can’t see his face.

He quickly pulls Shane’s hood up over his head to hide hair and rests a hand over it to gently discourage Shane from moving it should he start to wake up.

So Ilya just stares down his team and goes “you can be upset, but are going to be fucking quiet about it because if you wake my guest I’m sending all my blackmail on you to your wives, and then start fucking them to help them get over the divorce.”

So the whole “You’re fucking gay!” “No, I’m a fucking bi who is fucking a gay” conversation happens at a furious whisper, with Shane blissfully sleeping on Ilya’s chest as life implodes around him.

Shane may be a deep sleeper - and the argument in whispers - but even he starts to stir at the noise.

Ilya can’t have him moving his face into visibility now, so he just scruffs the back of his neck harshly and pressed him deeper into his shoulder.

Shane lets out a pleased (and not at all quiet) moan, and - worried that he is going to start talking - Ilya realises he needs to shut him up.

So he glares at the Bears to be quiet, while suddenly putting on the softest voice they have ever heard him use as he goes, “shhh quiet time now mоя любовь. Back to sleep.” And then shoves his fingers into Shane’s mouth.
