My love letter to Wolfbird.
I'm not trying to be dramatic when I say this but I've been depressed for the last few days and after giving it some thought I think I miss the version of Shane and ilya in Wolfbird so much that it feels like I miss a friend and I think that's fucked up and I should talk to my therapist Abt it. But it tells me that @opal-apparition is such a good writer that I'm literally experiencing grief over these written depictions of fictional characters. I feel like a simp but dear opal I hope u know how much ur writing has affected my life. And I swear I'm not trying to be dramatic but I really resonated with the way you wrote ilya and esp the homophobic ethnic family and the way he interacts with them bc I was getting war flashbacks u have literally nailed it. HOW on EARTH could anyone dislike your writing??? I see u queen and I need you to know Wolfbird has consumed my thoughts for days now.
I don't know the author of Wolfbird, and I don't want them to feel anything but at peace.
But if it at all helps, I hope they know there are people mourning access to their fic like they're missing a real person.
(And also that it is an incomparable work. If you took it down to tweak into something you can publish for reals, drop the pre-order links in the #heated rivalry tag, bby. We won't question, we won't even speak 🤐)

I keep forgetting to post this. I saw @opal-apparition’s fic Wolfbird mentioned in the top comments of an SNL TikTok on Sunday. Seeing ao3 mentions in the wild is crazy!
Wolfbird by Opal Apparition, Ch. 12, annotated with AI evidence.
Summary: this fic struggles with point of view, human physiology, and interaction between human bodies. It does this to a degree that we believe is inconsistent with human authorship and is indicative of AI use.
EDITED TO ADD: Apparently the siege condom is a reference to something earlier in the fic that we didn't remember, so please disregard that one.
The issues with physicality and blocking are an issue on their own (simply put, when human writers mess up blocking, they don't do it this way), but it's especially notable because the spelling and grammar in this fic is impeccable, and in human-written fics, that suggests a very high level of care and attention to detail.
That level of care and attention to detail is very, very incongruous with gravity not working or Ilya having three hands. Spelling and grammar this pristine suggests that someone read it over carefully at least once, and probably several times--but in all those careful reads, they missed that Ilya has three hands?
