Grandpa Ginrei has been quietly planning his grandson's 20th wedding anniversary since the day Byakuya and Ichigo crossed the Senkaimon and returned to their home in Norway...
The years go by and Ginrei actually enjoys going over there to spend vacations with them.
Their house is... Beautiful, though not exactly the manor Byakuya grew up in.
Still, they go about their mix of a normal life and their jobs as Sjelehøster with an ease he'd never seen before or even though to be possible.
They do mundane things like grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning, raising their children in this very simple and humble type of life, mingling with the population of Lillehammer seamlessly...
Byakuya is so, so happy with this life!
Ichigo makes his grandson so happy!
Rukia and Ingeborg finally decide to marry and do so at the Kuchiki Clan's shrine to Ginrei's immense satisfaction.
Ichigo's sister also welcome him and Isago into their homes and Ginrei's heart fills up in ways it hadn't been for way too long...
Then Byakuya and Ichigo move into a new town, a new place, with the type of privacy they needed to make it their forever home...
And finally, finally... One year after that move, the 20th anniversary is here!
Everything goes according to plan and his grandson takes his husband to the Kuchiki Clan shrine to renew their vows in front of everyone.
The celebration is amazing and the kids love every second of it too.
Ginrei smiles... He has a surprise for the couple that already awaits for them in Lærdalsøyri...
He nods discretely at Toyoda-san and the Ishidas.
They smile back, Orihime-san pointing at her phone and giving one curt nod to confirm the gift has indeed already been delivered.
All he has now is a small box with a key inside of it... The rest of the paperwork is safely inside the gift itself.
At the end of the celebrations, Ginrei hands the box to the couple and he's very pleased to see Byakuya's confused expression:
"What is this?" Byakuya looks at the unsuspecting metallic key with a black keychain depicting the Toyota logo, but with the Kuchiki Clan stylised cranes on each side. "We have a car already, grandpa."
Which they do, Ichigo still being the main driver of his beloved Volvo XC90 and Byakuya still very much preferring to go around their part of Norway in his Honda Valkyrie motorcycle...
... But this key is not for another vehicle...
"This," Ginrei points at the key. "Is for your new sailboat." He smiles widely. "I know your old cabin cruiser is too small for the six of you and I took upon myself to find the perfect vessel for you."
Byakuya exchaged a look with Ichigo.
"Toyota doesn't make boats..." He whispered, slightly suspicious because of who was also present in the celebration. "...as far as I know."
His smile widening, he waved his hand at Ishida Orihime, waiving back with a knowing smile.
"Like I said I tried finding a boat I thought to be good enough for you. I didn't find it. So I approached Toyoda-san and he was the one who gave me the idea to enlist Orihime-san's help since she has plenty of contacts in the engineering field." Crossing his arms in front of his chest, Ginrei looked very proud of himself.
"What did you do, Ojiisan?" Ichigo chuckled.
"I am proud to announce that Toyota is about to launch their very first line of sailboats in two weeks time. The Toyota Senbanzuru includes Monohulls, Catamarans and Trimarans..." Pointing back at the keys, the old man beamed. "What you have there is the Zero model of the Trimaran line. The prototype if you will. And the floats retract, so it doesn't take so much space when it's docked."
Ichigo tapped his hand, smiling.
"We are grateful, Ojiisan. What my husband means is that you truly didn't have to go to such lengths. We'd be satisfied with anything you'd offer us."
"Yes, yes..." Ginrei waved his hand, by now fully accustomed to the couple's unwillingness to let him splurge on them, always so conscious of money spending. "But what good is it to have so much wealth if I do not get to spend it on the ones I love?"
Byakuya and Ichigo shrugged, smiling widely and thanking the old man profusely.
Ginrei joined the rest of the party satisfied.
It had all gone accordingly...
"Well?" Ichigo smirked, seeing his kids run around the boat, admiring all of the living amenities, which included an owner's cabin and four other cabins for them.
All in one main, central hull of the boat since, with retractable floats, those could only be used for storage.
"It's not gonna fit the boathouse, that's for sure..." But the raven hair had a huge, goofy smile on his face.
"Isn't it amazing that we got the permission to build a whole private pier from the Kommune?" Ichigo snorted. Because of course Ojiisan had also taken care of that detail.
The boat, now aptly called Serendipity was a beautiful vessel indeed! Mainly white with the outright hulls, — the floats — in cobalt blue.
The mainsail was white, with the new Toyota Senbanzuru logo on it. The headsail was all in solid cobalt blue and the Gennaker sail had tiny multicoloured origami cranes throughout it.
It was too much as per usual, but it was amazing.
And Ichigo was not gonna stand there and pretend that their new trimaran wasn't perfect for family vacations.
And since all the kids' beds were double, they had even offered to sleep two by two so their cousins could join them sometimes...
"So, who gets the Svalen?" Byakuya asked.
"How about we give it to Lars and Jonas?"
The four kids stopped, looking at Ichigo and nodding in agreement.
"That's settled, I guess..."
