Chinese is one of those languages where curse words are so commonplace that they lose a bit of their bite, but nevertheless:
操 (cao): The good old "fuck". Common variants: 肏，草，艹，凸
我操 (wo cao): "I fuck". Same as "fuck". Common variants: 卧槽，我草，我艹，我擦，我屮艸芔茻
你妈 (ni ma): "Your mom." Used the same way as "fucking" for emphasis. Common variant: 尼玛
This brings us to the lauded "fuck your family members" series. Here we have:
操你妈 (cao ni ma): "fuck your mom." Common variants: 草拟吗，曹尼玛，操你老母
操你姥姥 (cao ni lao lao): "fuck your grandma."
操你大爷* (cao ni da ye): "fuck your great uncle."
*I have no idea why the great uncle is singled out like that. You usually only fuck someone you're a direct descendant of.
操你祖宗 (cao ni zu zong): "fuck your ancestors."
操你妈逼 (cao ni ma bi): "fuck your mother's cunt." Common variants: 草泥马比, cnmb, cnmlgb
逼 (bi), or "cunt," is not considered a particularly strong word in Chinese. The cunt series also includes:
傻逼 (sha bi): lit. "dumb cunt" i.e. "dumbass" or "dumbfuck". ("dumbfuck author, dumbfuck novel.") Common variants: SB, 煞笔.
牛逼 (niu bi): lit. "cow cunt", but means "badass" or "awesome". Common variants: NB，牛掰，牛笔.
装逼 (zhuang bi): lit. "pretend cunt', refers to when someone is being pretentious or a poser. Basically "装牛逼". Common variant: 装B. (This is where svsss' "B-points" come from.)
And in the same vein:
鸡巴 (ji ba): "dick." Used the same way as "fucking" for emphasis. Common variant: JB
屌 (diao): "dick/cock." Usually mean "badass." Common variant: diu
屌丝 (diao si): "dick hair," or loser, douchebag, incel etc.
OK, I have to ask. Is there any connection between 操 (cao) meaning "fuck" and 曹操 (Cao Cao) the infamous warlord from the late Han dynasty? Or is it just an amusing coincidence, like that one story about the poet who eats lions?
操 was originally just a substitute for the more explicit 肏 (入肉=“to enter flesh”) Idk exactly when using 操 to say “fuck” became mainstream; it’s a character that just happens to sound very similar to 肏. Oddly enough there aren’t a lot of characters that sound like “caò”, and I feel like most of them have been used as a euphemism at some point. 操 was the most popular one and over time it became the de facto fuck

This is a beautiful graphic but it doesn’t explain the pros and cons of each fire type.
The Swedish torch is good for an efficient and contained fire, it’s controlled and good for cooking over and produces less light and heat than other fires. It can be difficult to keep going once you burn through the original log
The teepee is your traditional campfire. Good for heat and light not great for cooking, burns through fuel fairly quickly
The star fire is one of the slowest burning and not well protected but provides an even heat good for slow cooking and is excellent if you have limited fuel and need the protection a fire can provide
The lean to is a compact and efficient fire that evolves into a dense and hot bed of coals. The structure creates a good source of air flow which can help damp wood burn. A slightly better cooking fire that isn’t as bright. It also provides protection from wind on one side
The platform fire is incredibly hot and will create a very thick bed of coals but it doesn’t have a lot of air flow and is a little harder to get started.
The log cabin is big and bright and has lots of air flow which again is good for damp logs. You can also use this structure to start a smaller fire in the middle while drying out bigger logs. This fire will crumble into a messier bed of coals that don’t produce particularly even heat for cooking.
The modified leanto is excellent if you need it to perform multiple functions. The side with more fuel will burn bright and hot and the side with less fuel will burn less hot but more evenly and controlled, this gives you different cooking options.
For starting a fire, the Log Cabin is probably one of, if not the, most consistent and reliable kindling setups. It’s tighter packed and has more protection against wind than a teepee, but still has sufficient airflow to get a good ignition, and enough structural stability to prop up the bigger logs long enough to get them burning consistently.

Ok I am again making up trans Sam headcanons but I keep finding things that kinda make sense for it (maybe I'm reaching but I don't care)
Watched Secrets again and Sam's dad is obviously kinda cold with her the whole time, he's going through a lot with his cancer diagnosis and all but still, shitty! But after he's blended with Selmak he's pretty immediately a lot kinder to her and I think if Sam IS trans and that's part of why her dad isn't great to her, a Goa'uld view on gender would really help him understand Sam being trans a bit more. The symbiote now living in Jacob's head spent the last 200 years blended with a woman, and he shares those memories. It might help him understand a lot of things?
Also the huge pressure Jacob puts on Sam to be exactly who he wants her to be, especially the "you've wanted to be an astronaut since you were a kid!" actually really fits this idea, he's looking for some kind of grounding that she's still his kid which is something a lot of parents of trans people do when they don't understand it all, trying to keep some kind of control.
Anyway I really like the scenes with Sam and her dad in The Tok'ra Part 2, you can see how weirded out she is by Jacob's personality immediately being a little different after the blending (amazing acting work from Carmen Argenziano btw) but he's immediately just a little bit warmer towards her and it feels like she's actually his daughter. It's not immediately, it does take a few more appearances, and that's good! You really get a feel for them slowly patching up their relationship over time.
And yeah I think it all fits really well with my own headcanon of Sam being a trans woman so I'm taking it!
Fully love and support this. I’ll be so honest tho when I started reading I had to very quickly figure out which Sam from which fandom was being talked about bc so many can be read as trans. And good for them tbh.
