There’s some demon realm politics nonsense worrying Binghe to the point he’s stress cooking more than he, Shizun, or Ning Yingying can reasonably eat. Because wasting food would only make him more upset, Binghe reluctantly agrees to share his food with more people. Shang Qinghua gets the first honor as the only one of Shizun’s friends not trying to steal him away. Binghe is a little miffed his shishu isn’t as blown away as most people— even more so when Shang Qinghua offers to teach him some recipes from his and Shizun’s “hometown”. It turns out shishu is almost as good a cook at him. Horrifying.
Mobei Jun gets to try it next. By coincidence it’s noodles— the only food Binghe has ever seen his right hand cook. Mobei Jun’s stone face crumbles after his first bite. He looks like he wants to cry. “This is what they’re supposed to taste like?” Concerning!
He finds Liu Mingyan and Sha Hualing at the same time. He hadn’t thought to bring them less messy food Liu Mingyan could sneak behind her veil, but watches with wide eyes when she actually removes it. She tears into the rib she’s holding, grease smearing around her mouth, and she smiles at him. “This is delicious, thank you.” Luo Binghe shudders. “Don’t be nice to me without the veil, you look too much like your brother.” Sha Hualing laughs at him.
Mu Qingfang looks like he hasn’t had a break to sleep or eat in days. He’s the only one of Binghe’s martial uncles he has a good opinion of, since he kept Shizun healthy when he got without-a-cure. Binghe offers to share a few of his court doctors with Qian Cao— the best the demon realm has to offer— to lighten the load. Mu Qingfang agrees with a relieved sigh, and lets Binghe take him out of his office to eat. The doctor misses his mouth several times and nearly passes out, but he seems to enjoy the food.
Without Shizun’s encouragement, Binghe would have never set foot on Bai Zhan. He can acknowledge that Liu Qingge has been a good friend to Shizun for over a decade now. It is for that reason alone he brings over a massive platter of food, utilizing the amethyst carp Liu Qingge left on the stoop recently. Liu Qingge looks at the meal with an understandable amount of suspicion, but decided to indulge after being sufficiently goaded. He can’t hide how he enjoys the food, and Luo Binghe takes no small amount of pleasure in hearing the “It’s good.” His shishu grits out. He leaves smiling, knowing that the bed of rice the fish was served on was left out for the better part of a day. That little home-wrecker will be in for a surprise tomorrow.

A little Qijiu brain worm I've have in my head these past few days is Yue Qingyuan gifting Shen Jiu Xuan Su as he views SJ as holding his entire soul/life a la Hua Cheng gifting Xie Lian his ashes. Whether SJ knows what that means to YQY beyond just it being his spiritual sword is up to you :3c
