Quote
“Oh, You’re asking about Hanan? I really shouldn’t, my Lord has made it very clear how he feels about such… idle chatter. But, I heard that their- ah, defection of sorts is impermanent. Sweet kid. It’s a pity they couldn’t manage it, really.” -an unnamed assistant of IL Dottore
First Impressions
The absence of a specific set of heels and a particular quiet and daringly argumentative voice that trailed frequently behind the Doctor himself for more than a decade is noticed by many, regardless of how elusive they may have been. Hanan and the Doctor’s private and bloody confrontation is admittedly a subject rife with rumors, regardless of how clear their lord makes his disapproval on the subject. It’s a wonder their Lord’s ah- dog of sorts has held on for so long in the wake of such an.. event. Even those that could little more than a few words on either of them would say the pair was close.
Their superior only on a technicality, many of Hanan’s former coworkers appreciated their flagrant disrespect and blazing curiosity, if only because it took those same piercing and cruel eyes it was directed at off their own work. Though, that is not to say that the words said about them were entirely cruel or callous. Even the most scandalous rumors on the topic managed to include something about them being a “too empathetic and argumentative child” it’s no wonder then, that Hanan left when they did. The rumors instead tend to revolve around the second harbinger himself, and why a man known for little more than his prowess and cruelty would be so lenient. It was on open secret that the Doctor seemed to make an occasional habit of taking in strays. A few, more perceptive agents have even managed to catch an occasional, quiet “Father” fall from their lips as opposed to anything proper.
Now, with an unbearably guilty conscience and much softer words Hanan has returned to Sumeru to try and make something of themselves outside of their father’s presence. Not that it hasn’t left it’s mark, of course. Steady hands, a wealth of knowledge and a tendency to focus solely on their object of interest has left them with an almost insatiable curiosity that reminds them all too well who made them as it threatens to leave their still wounded heart behind. Hanan has begun Reconciling with their mother and forming new threads of connection despite the letters that arrive every fortnight penned in a much too familiar hand.
Personality
Quiet, blunt and yet quite sweet, Hanan manages to balance out the occasional sharpness of their tongue with hands that are quick to treat any injury and a truly sincere apology. There are still many days where Hanan flinches and bristles at every touch and spends their nights letting unsent letters collect tears as a now unwanted companion curls itself around their shoulders. More days still where they lie awake at night listening to their still traitorous heart yearn to be somewhere else.
