i just fucking hope that something actually changes now because it feels like every time something like this happens nothing changes. lambrecht died on an unsafe route in poland in 2021 and the race is still run the same way every year and has huge crashes every year (like baroncini having to be put in an induced coma last year). furrer died after being left unlocated after a crash for 2 hours in 2024 and we still don’t have rider tracking. there were so many instances of cars on roads leading up to this and you could see this would happen one of these days and now it has. When is it going to change because every time we think surely it has to now and it doesn’t

#the attitude of so many people/organizations in the sport is that it's up to someone else to be responsible for rider safety; never them #@ the gps tracker controversy last year. i'm sure the uci was horrible about it but there was no willingness from any party to compromise #EVERYONE in the sport needs to feel responsible for rider safety or else it will never improve

and i knowww, i know it's very difficult to guarantee safety over 180+ km of roads, i know it, and i know budgets are low, but if organisations don't prioritise this, then we have a big issue

this should be top of the list because we have seen it happen multiple times this year alone, not even mentioning in the past few years, and it's a matter of luck that nothing happened those times
