Right down to all of your faculties being decrepit from relying on a sinister adviser.
Post by @ thebrontemarie (she/they).
Still holding on to light.
As with every oil lamp I make, I do a series of burns with different wicks to make sure that they produce a reasonably long, steady burn. Because of the way this lamp is constructed (with a small, difficult to access reservoir) there's a steel pin that keeps the wick from accidentally sliding into the lamp, and oil is added with a syringe under the hood. Worth it for this flame though! It'll burn at this level for about an hour--shorter than many of my lamps, but that's the tradeoff for a pose like this.
since itâs pride month, throwback to this beautiful cover and this wholesome interaction between two icons

Google AI Overview court loss in Germany could spell doom for AI search industry.
"Google AI Overview court loss in Germany could spell doom for AI search industry."
It fucking better.
Like to charge, reblog to cast?
apparently someone in Edinburgh has been updating the street signs for pride
too many ppl who know nothing about Filipino folklore n culture r talking shit about my ate. sheâs based off of the manananggal, which you can compare to the European vampire, if that helps you understand it better. although, iâm reluctant to mention that becuz some ppl, who choose to be ignorant, currently hold the view that sheâs just an Asian-colored vampire mishmash monster. she is not. other than the fact that she manages to exist at all, here are some details i appreciate about her.
first, she has a face that looks like my familyâs. thatâs my lolaâs nose. thatâs my momâs birthmark. shit, those are my uncleâs cheekbones. the headpiece features jasmine, our national flower. the translucent petals are cool.
second, you can display her in two pieces, split by the torso. its not just a âcheap gimmickâ you ignorant pos. at nightfall, the manananggal severs itself in two, leaving behind a vulnerable lower half while its upper half hunts for nourishment - blood, raw hearts, livers, fetuses. the red fringe represents her dangling intestines, hanging loose as she flies after ripping her body apart. the string detail is on the skirt for consistency, but also, intestines are long as fuck? why wouldnât they also hang from the bottom, assuming they also get split in half.
while weâre on the outfit, the top is an extremely traditional (Spanish colonial, ugh) style in both fabric and shape. i have attire that looks exactly like it, minus the monster high red foil pattern. the tiny, âwovenâ sleeve cuffs are a nice touch. the earrings and bracelets look to be woven palm too, but arenât as effective in plastic. the bottom half skirt is quite a bit shorter than is traditional, and the heels higher. itâs a monster high doll.
most accurate would be barefoot, tbh. but you guys would riot, and again, its a doll. actually, the shoes reference a lot from Filipino culture. the heel is a coconut tree overlooking a kubo, a one-room stilt hut built with natural materials such as bamboo and palm, and specifically made to be remade as necessary. the sole is âwoodenâ, also an accessible material of which some shoes were made with. it is attached by braid to what looks to be a straw strap. also not unusual for a shoe.
her fan and wings feature embroidery, and if you look closely at the latter, you will see a thin and delicate flora design in between the spider web pattern. this is extremely reminiscent of calado, a type of traditional hand embroidery akin to lace that is difficult as fuck. a dying art, btw.
i didnât wake up looking to ride this hard for a plastic woman lmao. but if youâre gonna come for her, it better be because of the fluorescent green in her colorway and not because you donât know what youâre talking about. honestly, a lot of Filipinos are just happy to be considered and celebrated. âwinsâ like this mean everything. maybe itâs not good enough for your collection, but now you know more about my culture than you wouldâve gone out of your way to. and thatâs good enough for me.
Neat
This is what The Verge said in their opening paragraph:
Elon Muskâs SpaceX IPO will probably make him the richest person to ever walk the planet. And while his mountain of horrible personal conduct could fill multiple books, one fact in particular stands out: A year ago, Muskâs actions directly led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people. He did it knowingly. And, worse â gleefully.
They're talking about DOGE discontinuing important programs that kept hundreds of thousands of people alive and safe. Now those people are dead.
Elon Musk is directly responsible.

For anyone wondering, the PhD student's name is Myra Cheng.
Here's a link to an article about the study from the Stanford Report: link.
Across three preregistered studies, participants interacting with sycophantic AI became more convinced of their own rightness and less willing to repair relationships. Yet at the same time, participants rated sycophantic AI models as higher quality, more trustworthy, and more desirable for future use, which may explain why this behavior has persisted despite its harmful impacts.

SERIOUS: NEW BOT SCAM ALERT
heya!
this right here?
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT REAL.
the "@staff" is just the bio text.
tumblr staff will not contact you through anything other than email or their official accounts, which will all have this badge:
DO NOT ENGAGE WITH THIS OR SIMILAR ACCOUNTS AND ABSOLUTELY DO NOT CLICK ANY LINKS FROM IT.
report and block. i'd also appreciate it if you shared this post, bc that blog was JUST created and was already tagging a LOT of people, and i know not everyone has the scam-sensing instinct, even if this might seem obvious to some.
@staff @tumblr @support
I was laughing at this account when they told one of my sideblogs it had won money in a giveaway. All the "bots" were like, half-hearted fandom accounts for fandoms Gen Z is into, and since when does tumblr have money to give away? No website does that XD
Fakest scam yet.
Any time you see a whole bunch of people getting tagged in one post, itâs such a dead giveaway for a scam. That and âhello dearâ
just a pride month reminder:
if you are making something featuring multiple flags and you put in the asexual flag, you better put in the aromantic flag.
if you put in the aroace flag, you better put in the aroallo flag.
fighting aromantic erasure starts with YOU đ«”
for reference:
^ the aromantic flag
^ the aroallo (aromantic allosexual) flag
& just btw, aromantic erasure is so bad that on pubmed, many of the very few studies that have looked into aspec people specifically, categorize us as a type of asexuality. from this study:
Our findings highlight that aromantic people wish for aromanticism not to be considered a part of asexualityâa practice that has dominated contemporary literature (Antonsen et al. 2020; Carvalho & Rodrigues, 2022; Clark & Zimmerman, 2022; Hall & Knox, 2022; Zheng & Su, 2018). Many participants clarified the distinction between their sexual identity and romantic identity and highlighted that though they may be connected for some, they should be considered independently as unique contributors to an individualâs identity and experience. This aligns with a previous aromantic community survey that showed 72% of the sample did not identify with asexual terminology (AUREA, 2021a). In combination with our findings, this suggests that a tendency to conflate and describe these identities as the same or linked may be to the disadvantage of a significant portion of the aromantic community.
this is why it is so important to include aromantic people as our own group and to specifically include non-asexual aromantics. i hope y'all can understand how frustrating it is to be erased through a group that is already erased.
asexual representation is sparse? all aromantic rep is asexual and most of the time people don't even bother to remember that "aromantic" is its own thing. i can't count how many times i've seen a character talk about not experiencing romantic attraction, only for people to go "wow asexual rep!" even though sexual attraction was never brought up.
asexual community & resources are sparse? when i try to look up groups for aromantics, i get resources on "ace & aro groups" that are literally all asexual-focused. at best asexual-focused with a mention of aromantic people. which isn't really helpful when you are aroallo and don't really want or need a group that is clearly meant for alloro asexuals and aroaces.
asexual history is sparse? i've literally never seen anything even trying to talk about aromantic history. the most impactful thing on aro history is that one tumblr post talking about a woman at a nursing home who heard the term and realized her best friend was likely aro. see above with the character situation as well.
my point here is not "aros have it worse than aces" because we are both aspec and both get fucked over by the same forces and in fact, a LOT of asexual aromantics are also very frustrated by aromantic erasure! i've even heard some people talk about not identifying as strongly as asexual, even though it fits them, because they feel their aro identity is more important to them but gets constantly erased by their asexuality.
my point is that it is so fucking disheartening to be aro even in queer spaces that are trying to be asexual-inclusive, even in supposedly aspec spaces, because it swiftly becomes apparent that people see your entire identity as just a footnote for asexuality. so many people never even realize they are aro because they aren't asexual and don't realize that you can be aro but not ace. i dealt with some really intense arophobia as a teen after realizing i was aro, feeling broken and alone. it hit much harder than any internalized homophobia or transphobia did for me at the time. i did not meet another person who identified as aromantic irl until this year. any resources and community that i had as a queer teen, as a trans teen, did not exist for me as an aro teen and does not exist for me as an aro adult, really.
and big problem is that, because people think of aromanticism as just a footnote of asexuality, they implicitly assume that more asexual rep, more asexual resources, more asexual visibility will automatically serve aromantics too. and when it doesn't work like that, aro people continue to suffer as a result.
things have improved over the years and i hope will continue to! but i really need every queer person to become more aware of aromanticism & arophobia & how the queer community contributes to it & hurts aro people. hence why i am so testy about when people will include the ace flag but not the aro one. YOU đ«” will care about your aromantic siblings and consider us this pride month!!!!!
THISSSS!!
It is so devastating to look for aro pride trinkets, only to see dozens of dozens of pride collections that have all but the aro flag (This is from independant artists and shops btw). Like I have even seen the character hosting site Unvale bend over backwards to include the nonbinary, the gay male flag, and the intersex flag, all flags that usually also get forgotten, YET there was still no aro flag included. I love Unvale for what it is but that shit stung. I would love to support artists and their shops but I just cannot find it in me to buy from their pride collections if they don't include the aro flag.
Even in the "new ace flag" design, they conflate aromanticism and asexuality. Hell the creator included aromantics as a form of love!! That feels incredibly shortsighted and like the creator had no discussions with aros before making the flag.
It feels like acceptance for aros is just leagues behind every other identity within the queer community at times.

Little girl teaching her cats how to draw a flowerÂ
(via)
theyâre? just? sitting there ???
it makes it 100% better that i canât understand her, i feel like iâm hearing what cats hear
Heh, sheâs speaking Portuguese! Hereâs what sheâs saying:
*baby voice* â⊠and if you have any questions, just ask me! And now⊠yeah. And now you draw the roots. You draw them all twisted up! Got it? A flower? Now draw it. Did you get it, Luis Roberto? Did you get it, Jurandir? Look. Did you get it? Thatâs how you draw a flower.â
Luis Roberto and Jurandir are people names (Jurandir is especially a name associated with older men) so itâs extra funny that the cats are named that, heh.
I will always reblog this
still remember how revolutionary this ad felt 10 years ago
excuse me but it still feels revolutionary
Keep reblogging until it feels normal everywhere.
For context: this came out in 2011 in Australia. Same-sex marriage would not be legalized until December 2017.
It was only legalized in 8 US states (the 8th only a few months before), and wouldnât be legalized nation-wide until 2015.
It was only legal in TEN COUNTRIES in 2011. We wouldnât hit 20 countries until 2017. (Australia was 23rd)
As of today (April 14, 2026), I believe only 38 countries have fully legalized same-sex marriage. Out of somewhere around 200 countries in the world. Thatâs only ~19% of countries.
This is still revolutionary.
