I'm Super Sensitive To Signs

This is a man who is VIOLENTLY aware that when it comes to conservatives, he is a Muslim first, a Brown Man second, an Immigrant third, a Socialist fourth, and a human a very distant fifth, if considered at all. He was also a young adult during the Obama Years and will have seen Republicans rip Obama to shreds for wearing a tan suit instead of a dark one and use literally ANY excuse they could to try and degrade his image.

when you say they're not fighting for X, they're fighting for equal access to white privilege what does that mean exactly? my current interpretation is that white supremacy is baked into a lot of modern western society and as it currently stands seeking equality in this society would mean benefiting from white supremacy, am I correct in this reading?

While it is true that white supremacy is a core pillar of the modern world, when non-white minorities are seeking equality, particularly when Black people are seeking equality, there is a certain level of “undoing “that is required for that equality to come about. So it would not be accurate to say that equality equates to benefiting from white supremacy in that when Black people achieve equality, there is a natural undoing of white supremacist structures.  the dream of the oppressed is not equality under white supremacist standards, but rather true equality outside of those norms.

And that's not bad! It's true for a lot of people! You CAN go back later! You can apply to university, you can get your GED, you can pursue whatever level of education you want. It's not bad to share that message. If you dropped out and want to go back eventually, there is zero timeline. You can go back at any age, with any life experience. You do not have to graduate by a specific age.

But as someone who dropped out of college over a decade ago, sometimes "you can always go back!" starts to feel a little like an empty platitude. Sometimes it starts to feel grating instead of hopeful. Even when it might technically be true, sometimes it still feels like a hollow sentiment.

I just want to say, to anyone else out there who feels that way, who dropped out and CAN'T go back, potentially EVER, whether it's due to poverty or disability or any other reason:

It's okay to drop out and never go back. It might feel shitty, and you may even feel grief over it. That's real, and painful, and allowed. But you are not lesser. Even if you never go back, you are not a failure or a loser. Academics do not define your worth. You are not stupid. And it is almost certain that the system actually failed YOU.

I personally still deal with a lot of grief about how my university career ended, but that's just one experience. I know other people with zero regrets, who talk openly about the ways that dropping out literally saved their lives. Life throws nasty curveballs sometimes.

“Tour Guides”

I am seriously not joking about them being my favorite. When I had to unexpectedly vacate my house due my extended emergency home renovations last month, my two (yes, two) black wrap tops were literally the first thing I packed. Like before I even grabbed underwear or my compression stuff I need. My skirt collection plus the red and green wrap tops soon followed. That's easily 60-70% of my wardrobe here at the hotel right now.

as a note for this specific batch of wrap tops, because we’re working with a new factory and this is their first batch of wrap tops, there are a couple differences, some of which are temporary (will be changed next batch) some of which are permanent:

1. the fabric: while it’s still ecovero viscose, somehow this fabric is even softer and nicer than the original fabric. this factory specializes in baby clothes and man you can tell. it’s just. such a joy to wear these tops. this change is permanent.

2. sizing: this batch of wrap tops runs a bit large. this will be noted in the listings. the sizing charts will be accurate to this batch of wrap tops, we just want to make sure people check them instead of automatically buying their previous size! this change is temporary, next batch the sizing will be adjusted.
