a little bit about his mom. gaazir is a local pirate legend. often her image is used to scare young sailors and fancy rich people. she's a talented, strong, feisty woman, can bite anyone's head off but is also charismatic. she was the captain of a ship, a big beautiful one, and her crew tried to live up to her, so if you're useless - you go feed the sharks. there's a lot of gossip about her, actually, some people say she's possessed by a demon, which is why she's so strong, or that andraste herself kissed her pussy, or that she can suck souls, and so on. but she's a simple human woman. maybe a little bit luckier than most people.

so. her son. i think she gave birth to him after all, but the rumors persisted. the child grew up on a ship and some people wondered why, but who are you to contradict HER. she didn't want to leave the sea and her son, too, so rostahm was with her. and so he grew up there to 10 years, maybe more. there were situations where the child could die, of course, but he continued to run around with her, although the woman's anxiety was growing. but a bad thing happened sooner or later. gaazir, her ship, and her crew were severely damaged, poor woman even lost her leg. it's possible that she even has ptsd after all of this. nothing terrible happened to rostahm, he just got burned a little and almost choked on seawater. so she went ashore with her son. and you know... things went very well for her there too hahah. she immediately became part of the criminal underworld there, and today she's a dangerous and influential old lady. rostahm isn't gaining the same popularity as his mom, but it's enough for him and her.

so yeah, rostahm is a pirate nepo baby. gaazir was afraid that her son would grow up spoiled, that she would push him into this piracy thing only because his mother was fucking cool, but it was avoided. he aspires to his mother's prime in terms of abilities, it's unlikely that he will ever reach her peak, but he is good enough already. the only problem is that sometimes rostahm's obsession with gold might fool him, and his mother's afraid it won't do him any good. but their relationship is very warm and tender, yeah she still can hit him hard, but rostahm will never get mad at his mom, they love each other very much. he's trying not to embarrass his mother and himself. and btw he's managed to separate his mother's name from himself, because he's mostly known as rostahm, not as the son of gaazir.
