I’m very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very tired.
More game devs need to understand the following concepts:
There is a finite amount of memory on any given device.
No matter how good your game is, players will want memory for other things on their devices.
Not everyone has a stable internet connection so making single player games needing an internet connection is not good.
4. The price of memory has more than quadrupled in the past six months
Just learned about Bull Press, a tabletop publisher that focuses on games that are prison compliant (no hardcover, no dice, no maps), and their catalogue seems sick as hell. Def gonna pick smth up when I get paid next. They do a lot of donation work with books for prisoners programs!
As mentioned, Bull Press donate playbooks to prisons out of their own pocket. If you know somebody in prison you'd like to refer to receive books, you can email them with requests.
and if you want to support them:
direct donation
patreon
merch (their shirt designs are sick as hell)

Some day I want to see a show that does the “no filler episodes” thing from the opposite direction. Just a whole season worth of low-stakes character pieces that seem to move the overall story absolutely nowhere, then episode 26 pulls all the triggers at once and this massive Rube Goldberg machine of a plot the show’s been quietly setting up in the background the whole time hits you like a truck.
Incredible one-liners as always
Love that this alien arm is clearly just green bubblewrap. 70s prosthetics I love you
Classic SF once again betrayed by a clear, static-free signal and a flat digital screen
This is how I remember classic Who and Star Trek, folks, with signal ghosts and scanning lines (but usually with more static/snow)
Sharing this on my main because it appears from the notes that it's useful for some modern viewers.
You KNOW classic SF used the limited displays of CRT television and the static of transmitted signals the way theaters use stage makeup and lighting to make inexpensive props look great fine— take advantage of the medium! But it's hard to imagine how it looked if you've only seen Blu-ray HD restorations.
I swear to you, despite classic Who using bubble wrap for years as one of its go-to materials that reflected light in interesting ways, we never realized that's what it was.
huh? pompeii? nah dude that song’s so old and overplayed, if the radio station puts that song on one more fucking time I’m gonna—-EH EH OH EH OH EH EH OH EH OH
oh hey this feels like a good time to mention that bastille did a remix of pompeii. with goddamn hans zimmer. listen to this to blow your tits clean off
this arrangement needs this post
I'm sorry, ya girl's gotta be pedantic as shit about this This is Temple Fugate (pun on the latin phrase Tempus fugit or 'Time Flies'), better known as The Clock King specifically from the Batman the Animated Series He has no powers he's just...there's no better way I can explain this; Extremely Autistic about time management and hyperfixated on Clocks and has increadibly well planned out 'crimes' down to the milisecond, including escape routes that rely on a certain train always running a frew minutes late Even in his debut episode, just called 'The Clock King', he's kinda...fucking pathetic? His crimes range from a mild prank hacking into traffic lights to causing a massive train crash just to embarress before finally killing his 'nemesis', the mayor of Gotham because years ago when Fugate was an efficiency expert his company whose company was dealing with a lawsuit from a dissatisfied client that Fugate was appealing in court. On a train ride into work before being seen in court, he takes advice from a lawyer he was 'seat neighbours' with-the future mayor-Hamilton Hill and Hill noticed that Fugate was, well...wound too tight and innocently suggested that instead of sticking to his routine, Fugate should have his lunch in the park to relax to seem like he has nothing to hide from the judge. Fugate, while dubious, eventually relents because what would the harm be? A string of comical accidents in the park from kids kicking a ball into his briefcase, sending his papers flying into the nearby fountain followed by a dog barking at him as he tried to fish them out causing him to trip into water, that's what. Causing him to be late with the judge admonishing him, "You really need to keep time better" a denying the appeal, bankrupting the company and causing Fugate to snap Years later, Fugate puts his plans into action, putting all the blame on Hill because coincidentally the legal firm Hill worked at was the one representing the client that sued them-Hill wasn't even the one working the case-and Fugate thought that Hill conspired against him and had the grand 'reveal' after kidnapping Hill...where he just took off his glasses, as if that would somehow work. Fugate had to basically spell out who he was to Hill and even then Hill only barely recognized him Granted in the next episode he appeared in, Fugate spent months working as a butler for an eccentric scientist who made a belt that could pause time for the wearer, which Fugate stole-basically gained super speed to the outside view and you wanna know what he did with this device that gave him the power of a god? If you guessed 'harras before trying to kill Mayor Hill again' you'd be right! The man's good at making plans on paper but has no creativity

Apollo 17 vs Artemis II
Despite everything, it's still you.
-------------------------------------------------
Also prev tags:
That's really cool actually
#excuse me but are you telling me that the Apollo pic is made with the help of the SUN and the Artemis one with the help of the MOON??? #that's actually so poetic i want to cry
@gorandomshesaid wait i need to sit with this one. wait.
#i always think about how beautiful it was for ryan coogler to cast buddy guy as older sammie #i often think about how people like to espouse the idea that we are "so far removed" from jim crow and segregation when creatives like buddy are still alive #a lot of the activists and figures are still alive! #idk the fact that he's living proof of the continued effects of chattel slavery on black americans is so bittersweet because he remembers such atrocities but he's also able to bestow wisdom and history for art pieces like sinners
Ryan Coogler said in an interview, btw, that part of why he thought of Buddy Guy was because his uncle loved seeing him – he'd get dressed up and go see him play live when he got the chance.
My grandfather's grandfather was born a slave. I believe he lived to see freedom, but still.
Which means my grandfather's father was a sharecropper, which is within my family's oral history for why the [surname] family property and farm is the way it is and has been in the family for so long.
My grandfather died at 96 years old at the turn of the century.
Sharecropping as we know it today ended sometime in the 1930s-1950s depending on the state. Not only was my grandfather a sharecropper's son- my grandfather was a sharecropper himself during his early adulthood before he left home to join the military and later became a preacher.
My grandfather marched with Martin Luther Kin Jr and educated my father on black politics and activism. My father just turned 71, the same age as Ruby Bridges, the little girl who sparked the mass desegregation of education. She was born in 1954. There exists a photo somewhere of a little boy on a man's shoulders in the crowd at one of MLK's public events. That's my dad.
That's how close this is to the current era.
I said that once as a teenager on a forum. I was mocked and told that I am either way older than I claimed to be or that I am way off in my estimations because slavery was long ago. Slavery, Jim Crow, segregation, the Civil Rights movement itself, that is in recent enough memory to be evident in the lives of those who are alive today. My grandfather's grandfather- I'm just 5 generations removed from slavery.
Buddy Guy is 89 years old. My grandfather would be 122 if he was still alive today. That's how close this is.
When my mom was born, it was illegal for a woman like her to marry a man like my dad. When they did get married it was 20 years after Loving v Virginia. Mildred Loving herself wasn’t even a senior citizen at that point.
The past ain’t dead. It ain’t even past.

Colbert writing a "sequel" to The Return of the King feels like such hubris. I know he's a bigger Tolkien nerd than I'll ever be, but that doesn't mean we need to be subjected his fanfic.
it should be posted anonymously on ao3 as God intended
