Stop hitting kids. End of sentence.
If you think, “but I was hit and I turned out just fine” let me pre-reply: NO YOU DID NOT. You think hitting a child is ok, how the fuck does that qualify as “fine”?????? From one abuse survivor to another: please start healing yourself.

YOU GOTTA BE FUCKING KIDDING ME TUMBLR
So annoying. So GD annoying.
The World Health Organization report I highly recommend because there are so many conclusions that are shocking and yet completely obvious.
For example, being exposed to corporal punishment as a kid makes it more likely for a person to commit domestic violence against a partner. In places where corporal punishment is normal, people are more likely to think that rape and intimate partner violence are normal. Kids who are spanked are more likely to be violent with and to bully other kids.
Spanking is literally teaching a kid that violence is okay and normal and it affects the whole society.
It also talks about how corporal punishment affects the brain in its development. It changes the structure of the brain and slows the development of mental abilities. Kids who get spanked have much stronger hormonal responses to stress.

MY DEAR TUMBLR USERS!!
WONDERFUL NEWS!!
NETHERFIELD PARK IS LET AT LAST!!!
What a wonderful thing for our girls!!!
How so? How can it affect them? 🤨
My dear Merian! You must know I am thinking of his reblogging from one of them!
Is that his design in blogging here?
Design? nonsense, how can you write so! But it is very likely that he may reblog from one of them, and therefore you must follow him as soon as his blog is online.
I see no occasion for that. You and the girls may follow him, or they may follow him by themselves, which perhaps will be still better for them, for as you are as clever as any of them he might reblog most from you of the party.
My dear, you flatter me. I certainly HAVE had my share of cleverness, but I do not pretend to be anything extraordinary now. When a woman has five grown-up mutuals, she ought to give over thinking of her own reblog counts.
In such cases, a woman has not often much of a reblog count to think of.

I have attended many CPR classes over the years, but was never told this…..
When you are alone and have a heart attack. What are you gonna do then ?
A rarely good post that can't be shared often enough:
1.
Take a 2 minute break and read this:
Let's say it's 5:25 pm and you're driving home after an unusually hard day's work.
2.
You are really tired and frustrated.
All of a sudden your chest pains. They are starting to radiate in the arm and jaw. It feels like being stabbed in the chest and heart. You're only a few miles away from the nearest hospital or home.
3.
Unfortunately you don't know if you can make it..
4.
Maybe you've taken CPR training, but the person running the course hasn't told you how to help yourself.
5.
How do you survive a heart attack when you're alone when it happens? A person who is feeling weak and whose heart is beating hard has only about 10 seconds before losing consciousness.
6.
But you can help yourself by coughing repeatedly and very strongly! Deep breaths before every cough. Coughing should be repeated every second until you arrive at the hospital or until your heart starts to beat normally.
7.
Deep breathing gives oxygen to your lungs and coughing movements boost the heart and blood circulation. Heart pressure also helps to restore a normal heartbeat. Here's how cardiac arrest victims can make it to the hospital for the right treatment
8.
Cardiologists say if someone gets this message and passes it on to 10 people, we can expect to save at least one life.
9.
FOR WOMEN: You should know that women have additional and different symptoms. Rarely have crushing chest pain or pain in the arms. Often have indigestion and tightness across the back at the bra line plus sudden fatigue.
Instead of posting jokes, you're helping save lives by spreading this message.

Reblog reblog reblog!!! This saved my life!!! I was 38 at the time. And working in a hospital in radiology. At night. The other tech was in ER with patient. I got up to go to ER to help( about 75 yards away ) when I felt a excruciating pain in my chest radiating to left arm n ha d and into neck n jaw. I dropped to ground. And I was alone in the department. I remembered the coughing technique CPR course. I started coughing and was able to get to my feet and make it to the ER, coughing as much as possible the whole way. As I entered ER a nurse said, " oh good your here to--- are you having chest pain?" That's the last thing I remember till I woke up 4 days later in Cardiac Care Unit. With a stint in a artery in my heart. Cardiologist said had I not done the coughing technique, I would not have survived long after initial onset of pain.
Tell your family, friends. Anyone. Everyone
Every time I think about Jane Austen novels, the overwhelming urge to yell about how terrible most of the parents are makes me want to give everyone therapy, but which parents are the worst?
I think what makes the parents in Austen so infuriating is that they are just low level terrible, not outright abusive monsters. They aren't that bad, but this almost makes it worse. If only they applied themselves...
Anyway, to answer your question, judging by the children's behaviour, I think we can conclusively say that the worst father is General Tilney. While Sir Thomas is strict, his children don't turn into completely different people in his presence. General Tilney also reams out his son in front of a guest, which is just awful and awkward for everyone. His temper is only barely controlled. He's also a dick to wait staff. I don't want to know what happens if his children are late to dinner, but Eleanor is very worried about it to a weird degree.
Colonel Brandon's father is an awful father and guardian, who arranged to have his ward's fortune stolen by his awful son, but he's never on page.
Lady Susan is the worst mother figure by far, who has neglected her daughter entirely until it was time to arrange a horrible marriage for her. She has no affection for her daughter at all.
I'd say the next worst parental figure is Mrs. Norris, with her cruelty towards Fanny. She also overindulges the Bertam children, leading to them astray as well. Her influence on Maria is mostly negative. Admiral Crawford seems to be a pretty negative adoptive parent as well.
I find it interesting how many types of bad parents she includes. Mr. Woodhouse is very loving, but he traps his daughter within the home and village. Mrs. Bennet is selfish and silly, she also hasn't properly seen to her children's education. Mr. Bennet mocks his own daughters, doesn't bother with discipline, and hasn't provided for their future. Sir Walter is more oblivious than cruel, he also plays favourites. Mrs. Dashwood is one of the better parents, but isn't practical enough so Elinor has to help with budgeting. Lady Middleton is over-indulgent. Mrs. Ferrars seems to dole out love in proportion to flattery. Darcy says his parents were good, but spoiled him into selfishness. Mary Musgrove blames everyone else for her children misbehaving. Mr. Price is drunk and useless, Mrs. Prince is lazy, picks favourites, and has no ability to manage the house. Lady Bertram is completely checked out.
The Morlands are great parents, so of course they have to be left behind so Catherine can grow.
One of the many reasons to love NA is that it actually shows great parents for once...
I'd argue Mr. John Knightley and his wife also make quite able parents, as well as the Gardiners and the older Musgroves (not that able mayhaps, but loving and well-meaning at least). Mrs Jennings is... odd but overall I love her, and she seems a decent enough mother.
I think the John Knightleys are good, but John has to temper the hypochondria of his wife. The older Musgroves are clearly loving and capable as parents, all their kids are educated, so I think they're pretty good parents. Sending a kid to the navy seems odd today but you know... Mrs. Jennings is silly, but she has both her daughters very advantageously married and she's very good to Marianne when she's ill. Great parent to me.
I recently watched Little Women (1994) and got inspired to do an analysis on Laurie, Jo, and Friedrich.
I strongly ship Jo and Friedrich and adore platonic Laurie and Jo; here's why.
Friedrich's temperament and personality balances out Jo's. He's a quiet and thoughtful person and Jo's vibrancy offsets that beautifully. They also are deeply in love with literature, the opera, politics, and teaching. They share the same values and are different enough in personality that they can very easier build a life together.
Laurie on the other hand is really similar to Jo when it comes to personality. She points this out when he proposes to her: they're both incredibly stubborn and bicker because of that. Laurie and Jo also have a similar playfulness too. But, they don't share the same interests. Laurie has no passion for education or reading like Jo does; he views it as a chore. Their dynamic is definitely better suited for friendship over marriage.
Ultimately, Laurie and Jo both go through changes throughout the film and life takes them in a better direction than they had planned. Laurie falls in love with Amy and finds his place within high society and the March family. Jo becomes a teacher, not a writer (although I'm sure she'll do both) and falls in love with Friedrich, a man who understands her soul in a way that is similar and maybe even deeper in some aspects to her sisters.

Doing a final project in my stats class, we have to pick a subject and collect data on it. We need at least 100 data points, and I figured this blog is big enough that a poll on here could get to that pretty easily!
Doing my project on if it’s more likely to be born in certain months :]
I have gotten the OK from my teacher to collect data using a Tumblr poll, btw. I’m also going to have to send her this post as proof of where I got the data from / proof I didn’t just make up the numbers. So. Behave
