Instead of a real planet, the corporates now have a space torus with fake biomes that they built around the planet they've gutted.

Instead of free reliable public transportation, they have sporadic transportation, usually going only short distances, requiring payment, and sometimes not stopping for fewer than a minimum of ten people; or in many places there is nothing at all.

Instead of security that protects the people, most places have corporate enforcers who don't seem to hesitate to kill anyone who gets in their way.

Instead of a family who she can trust, Janity has a father who doesn't hesitate to report her mother, sister, and extended family to the corporate enforcers knowing they will be killed or enslaved, and feels no guilt or sense of wrongdoing.

this caused a lot of issues both in terms of fixing said space-time-continuum and in terms of nautical navigation, and after a long and heavy battle in the international maritime organization it was decided that the bureaucratic burden of dealing with this was to be upon Ireland, much to their dismay. the Irish Government then released an app for all sailors and seafarers so they could report titanic sightings during their journeys, even though they heavily dissuaded you from reporting them given the paperwork it caused.

anyway i woke up with a clear image of the app in my head and needed to recreate it for all of you:

See, we know that the first thing that SecUnit ever watched was the Sanctuary Moon. In Compulsory it watches the show for the first time - why not rewatching it? Because it isn't sure if the character it likes is getting killed or not. Why is this important? Hear me out:

So you are on the corporate mining installation, where half the people get slave wages and the other half are outright slaves. People are scared/angry about your presence because they know you would be used against them. You feel like there is no choice but to stay put, because while the company can no longer fry your brain remotely, they WILL kill you if they find out you are out of control. The world is shit, you expect people to kill each other and you distract yourself by watching the show.

And you think the character you like, the character who's job is the better version of your job, is probably about to die.

And a human near you is in mortal danger. You get stand down order.

So you disregard the order (and the company immediately tries to fry your brain) and go save the human.

And suddenly you realise that if you leapt into danger for them, than the world is not 100% cruel > there is always a chance of SOMEONE being kind. Today it was you
