Question for market research:
How much would you willingly pay for a 24-page illustrated zine? (USD)
<$5
$5-$10
$11-$15
>$15
I'm nearly done with my illustrations of the possessions of a deceased blacksmith in 1785 Massachusetts, and I'm planning to print and sell it as a zine, but how much it could sell for is going to determine choices I make about things like paper stock, printing method, etc.
Some more Art Fight attacks, on @achimastar & @smalldeerofmine & @/Grendel
I guess the theme of this post is pink & purple.
I'm having so much fun doing Art Fight, and trying to challenge myself a little bit with each one -- a slightly-more-difficult pose than I usually do, incorporating a device/accessory/prop I haven't drawn before and figuring out how to draw it well, or using a creative framing device. The incentive of points is also getting me to go outside my comfort zone and do more full-color work than I otherwise would.
Fortunately, interesting OCs with cool designs like these make the brainstorming easier.
Another Art Fight attack, this one for Pathseeker_the_Bard (who didn't link a Tumblr on there, but if you're on here and see this, let me know if you want to be tagged!)
Her OCs Gideon, Isaiah, and Penelope are all residents of 1770s Boston, which is truly one of my favorite settings. They were so fun to draw, especially Penelope's gown.
Used Art Fight as an excuse to draw my horrible new-to-this-century Tremere vampire Victoria and her best friend, @agaricandmoss 's nosy journalist Nosferatu vampire Pearl.
We decided they were besties maybe a couple months ago and now they're a bonded pair.

How convenient it is to attach small, useful objects to your clothes at waist level
Ahhh love this!!
Also, petition to bring back chatelaines.
No one can stop you! This is where my friend who is head of costuming for the museum I used to work at buys theirs for the site. (I am not sponsored by or affiliated with that shop, I've just worn their products in work contexts & also advocate for bringing chatelaines back).

@agaricandmoss has informed me that it's "Make A Terrible Comic" Day, so here's one about me and my coworker Laney and a conversation we regularly have.
We are trying our best...

Making some more polished OC pictures for Art Fight (where I am also sclappin if you want to follow me).
I don't have a lot of images that are good color refs for most of my OCs, and then some OCs that I'm redesigning just don't have enough pictures at all, so here's some full-color drawings of Mal and Jack, Ivy with her updated vallaslin, and Victoria who I just had no polished drawings of at all.
There is a very specific type of character that hurts my heart so, so badly that I have to go lay down if I think about them too hard, and it's whatever Claudia and Laura both are.
I think they should hang out. I think they should scream together. I think they should commiserate. I think they should keep their secrets while sizing each other up. I think they should talk about girls they like.
July's Postcard of the Month is going out to Patreon patrons!
There are actually two ways that you can get this postcard this month:
the usual way, by signing up for my Postcard of the Month tier on Patreon, or (this month only!) if you saw Slade fight Gabriel Skye in the Ralph's parking lot on June 21st and you recognize yourself in this illustration, contact me with some kind of proof and I'll send you one for free.
(Also, if you signed up in time for the June one and have not received yours, do not worry! There was a delay getting the second batch printed, but they're going out now alongside the July ones.)
I think itβs really cool you have a historical fiction oc! Sometimes I make historical ocs that are just regular guys and not from like a cool fantasy universe with Lore and i worry Iβm boring, so your stuff is very encouraging! (Also I have a print of the drawing you did of Penelope and Odysseus, itβs one of my favorite prints I have)
I'm so happy you think Effie's cool!
I have a few others I need to dust off/revamp at some point.
Honestly, regular people living ordinary lives are some of my favorites, and one of my favorite lenses to look at history through. One of my backburner long-term side projects is actually a point-and-click game where the premise is that you're a guy in 1773 running errands.
I would love to hear about your regular guy OCs!
And yay! I love that print, too.
Realized I had no good full-body drawings of my 1905 base-ball OC Effie while I was uploading things to Art Fight, so I had to correct that.
I love her, she's originally from a mill town but runs away to the big city to play base-ball & get dragged around to Women's Trade Union League meetings and such by older girls. It's all a very exciting life.

An art gifting game
I signed up for Art Fight this year because it looks fun. I'm slowly adding all my OCs.
My postcard for pride month.
Inspired by this 510 BCE depiction of Sappho, and the joy of being in rooms of fellow gay & trans people making music & art, telling stories, and playing games together lately.
I'm grateful to the many people I've met in my area over the past few years who have been working hard to build spaces for that to happen in -- especially Cas, Lids, & Ryan.
Happy Pride, everyone.
