there is always some fucking laundry and dust and some other shit
thinking about how much work i could get done if i would do it
reminder to:
straighten your back
go pee goddAMN IT STOP HOLDING IT
go take your meds if you need to
drink some water
go get a snack if you havent eaten in a while
maybe wander around the house/stretch a little if you’ve been sat at the computer a while (artists especially: sTRETCH THOSE WRISTS)
reply to that text/message from earlier you’d forgotten about
maybe send a nice lil message to someone having a bad day?
I just would like to thank everyone who ever reblogs this so that it somehow ends up back on my dash because I usually need the reminder (especially the drinking water one)
Of all posts to see with a million notes, I’m glad it’s this one.
“how’s the writing going?” i’m glad you asked! my room has never been cleaner and i’ve decided to take up baking
“how’s the cleaning going?” thanks for checking in! I’ve written four chapters :)
Seriously, though, everybody relating to this: you're doing so great! This is an excellent habit!
You've successfully harnessed the power of procrastination in ways that keep improving your life in your avoidance time. That's huge!
And sometimes the best thing for a block is to let your subconscious have at it for a while uninterrupted by the constant poking. Treat your brain like a small child. Treat it with kindness and give it something else to do so it stops trying to drive you mad.

[ID: a tweet from @/innesmck that reads, “sorry it took me eight months to reapond to your text message, someone sent me an email i didn't want to read and i couldn't process any other tasks until it was gone”. END ID]
*fills my own schedule with events and tasks that are fun or good for me*
Well what the fuck. Where’s my seven daily hours of dicking around time.
I don't know who needs to hear this but you've probably got vegetables in your fridge that are starting to go a little off so you should probably plan on making a frittata or a pot of soup in the next couple days.
I don't know who needs to hear this but almost every bit of fresh produce you've got that might be about to go off can likely be safely frozen for use later if you want to keep it, and that the amount of waste generated by consumers is a tiny portion of food waste generally and you're not a bad or wasteful person if you forgot your veggies or you weren't feeling well enough to cook.
This post is almost a year old and my favorite thing about it is that it is still circulating and periodically someone will tag it #MY PARSNIPS or some other forgotten vegetable and I get a tiny little snapshot of harried people living their lives and making dinner.
in addition to the fact that people just have different natural rhythms, a big reason why we can’t seem to go to bed as early as we “should” is that nighttime is, for many of us, our safest and most fulfilling time of day. we don’t have to work, we won’t be contacted by bosses or insurance companies or collection agencies or other suffocating life business… we’re likely only to be contacted by our friends, or by no one at all. night time is release; it’s ours. we can rest or recreate. we can do things we actually want to do. who would choose to cut that short?? just to usher in the next morning when our lives are not our own again? nighttime is precious and nothing could be more normal than the desire to embrace this
So, y’all remember that post that said animals in urban areas slowly became nocturnal to avoid encounters with humans? Apparently that includes humans.

not all of you are valid like some of you seriously need to clean your room. girliepop your dwelling is accumulating mold
I'm a knitter. I sometimes knit socks.
I have recently got back into doing some writing. This writing has been multi-chaptered.
So, here is a trick I am going to share that I learned from knitting socks. There is a thing called "second sock syndrome" which is when you finish one sock but can't seem to get around to starting the second. So, when I finish a sock I IMMEDIATELY cast on the second sock and just knit a few rows.
So, when you finish that chapter, IMMEDIATELY just write one sentence of the next chapter. Trust me.
This is exactly what it looks likeđź«
