It bothers me so much that the healthcare system relies so much on the patient's ability to advocate for themselves, organize their history, and be so persistent against every medical “professional” who says there’s nothing wrong/they can do. But so many struggle with fatigue, brain fog, and face such ingrained systemic barriers, that the people who need and deserve help and support can’t access it.

the truth is the most discourse poisoned weirdos among us are not even on tumblr at all, they're walking around the physical world acting like normal people until their sleeper activation topic comes up.

when I was in undergrad I had this professor who spontaneously decided in the middle of a class on, as far as I could tell, a completely unrelated topic to go on a bizarre tirade about how human pregnancies are actually 10 months long and saying it's 9 months is a patriarchal attempt to minimise women's suffering. she very confidently justified this by explaining that there are four weeks in a month, so 40 weeks is 10 months.

when someone pointed out that a month (except February) is actually four weeks and two to three days, and that 40 weeks (280 days) is a lot closer to 9 months (275 days) than it is to 10 months (305 days), she told him to stop mansplaining.

then a girl pointed out that the actual length of a typical human pregnancy isn't even 40 weeks, it's 38. I think we all collectively blacked out after that

I was researching more rare sighthound breeds and came across the Xarnego Valenciano, sometimes called Podenco Valenciano and lots of other reshufflings of those words. They look like the more well known Ibizan Hound but are a bit smaller and can have silky feathering! They also come in smooth and rough coats, and their ears are a touch less sharp and pointy than their Ibizan cousins; just a bit more rounded. I was immediately enchanted.

They also come in various shades of red/brown and can have black coats as well.

To say I fell down the rabbit hole was an understatement.

It appears that the only breeders of these dogs are in Spain where they are used for coursing small game. The only kennel club that recognizes the breed is the Kennel Club De España. I have contacted a few friends who have connections with various Podenco breeders in Spain, in the hopes that someone can indulge my curiosities and feed me as much info about them as possible. I don’t know if I’ll ever own one, but I am eager to learn more.

actually objectively hilarious to have a sudden "oh god there's a metadimensional incursion and we're trapped in the teleport-only building" alarm go off and this exhausted-looking security guard just goes "okay everybody follow me" and there's actually a door on the third basement floor that leads out to one of those little bunker entrance shacks and it's just like. in nevada. and then you have to sign an NDA.

For some, this is funny because it's fantasy, and not a real danger. For others, though, it's a bitter laugh because it's a little too close to the truth.
