midwifery, gathering, hunting, fishing, mothering orphans, horticulture, farming, caring for the sick and elderly, building shelter, religious leadership, healing, clan or tribe leader… all have longer histories as professions and tasks women engaged in than prosititution. prostitution began via pimping: men trading captured/enslaved women [who were the first slaves] among each other for other women, goods, to broker peace. it’s a convenient patriarchal myth and reversal that places the responsibility for male choices and control of women onto women’s choices and calling it female nature and power.
