things I'm coming to terms with in my early 20s ୭ ˚.⁺⊹
as I was deciding on what to order for lunch (knowing exactly what I wanted), my partner noticed I was taking forever and that I kept leaning towards foods I didn't want. they asked, "why're you denying yourself of your own desires?" the whole world felt like it took a pause. I am now coming to the realization that so much of my life has been the result of me settling for shit I did not want - whether it was out of fear or 'scarcity mindset.'
I wasn't pushed growing up. any idea or want I had, no one really encouraged me to try and that makes me kinda sad as an adult. now I have to heal my relationship with newness/change and my fear surrounding it on my own. it's hard.
I wasn't really taught or had a lot of things explained to me as a kid, either. my family either expected me to know how to do something already or when I fucked up, they'd tease me or get pissed at my mistake. I don't wish to be coddled. I wish they had taken the time to show me how to do something so that I knew for future reference. now as an adult, I have loads of trust issues with myself and my decisions. I'm learning to face my fear one day at a time.
I hate to admit it, but ever since I graduated high-school, I was lonely. I didn't feel like I "deserved" to say that, though. because yes, I had family constantly around. yes, two of my friends stayed in touch with me and we spoke every few months. but I was isolated. so much of my late teens to early 20s was spent in my room. it's only now that I've began to feel like a person and see that the world is so much larger than these four walls. I've experienced so many things in the last 6 months, and it's been such an exciting shift!
I'm only twenty-something; the first chapter of my life has only just begun, and that's okay. I'm right where I'm supposed to be.
