I’ll always find the insult “ageplayer” partially incriminating and internally misogynistic by whomever is spewing it.
It’s socially acceptable for men to have childish interests into adulthood (Pokemon, Star Wars, Batman, etc) and nobody is offended by that or assumes it immediately equates to perverse behavior.
Though, if you indulge in childlike interests as a woman and openly express it in the same fashion you are disproportionately more likely to be called an ageplayer. Even if you’re not dressed inappropriately, acting promiscuous, or behaving in a way that could be considered sexual.
Why? Why is innocently cherishing girlhood and childhood immediately dissolved into something sexual?
Yes, there are people who genuinely indulge into ageplay. But treating every woman with childlike interests as though she does is unfair. Instead of making unfair and sexually invasive over-generalizations, people should reflect and wonder why expressions of femininity or nostalgia provoke such a stark reaction.
The only people who are fair to criticize are those whom openly admit to or condone that behavior themselves. Not just any woman who enjoys childish things. Otherwise, you’re just creating guilt by association where it doesn’t exist and reinforcing a misogynistic narrative that sexualizes the youth of girlhood.
