For additional context, the ace community on tumblr didn’t even really exist until 2010ish. Unfortunately, dealing with harassment on tumblr (and the ensuing burnout) has been a thing almost for nearly the entire time that ace tumblr has existed.
BTW, I’ve seen people on here saying stuff like “Yeah, I did some anti- ace back in the day. Cringe, haha” No. No, not “cringe”. You destroyed a community. You kept us from discussing important things and instead made us fight a defensive battle on our own turf. Because you can be sure these garbage people came for us in our own tags.
You delayed our completely hindered the coming-in of baby aces, you pointed to a queer community and went “Ew, look at those weirdos!” while claiming you were fighting for the queer cause. You bullied us with the exact same words you yourself were bullied with and then claimed we lacked “the queer experience”.
You made the queer community all about suffering and since we would lose the oppression Olympics, we had to stay out, too bad, so sad.
You used anti- ace rhetoric to slide in TERF talking points. Because if you can get people to hate one queer group, you can make them hate all of them. You isolated us and told us we were basically cishets who were cosplaying as queer. You called us oppressors while actively oppressing us.
You weren’t being cringe. You were a anti-queer bully.
