If it had been Aang who took that lightning strike for Katara in the exact same way Zuko did (same framing, same music, same slow motion desperation, etc.), people would be calling it the most romantic moment in the series. Nobody would be arguing it was just something the Avatar would naturally do for anybody. But because it's Zuko and Katara, suddenly there's this push to strip the scene of all subtext and act like taking a potentially killing blow for someone in one of the climactic emotional scenes of the show doesn't mean anything
Nobody is saying that Zuko taking lightning for Katara is Irrefutable Proof that he was canonically in love with her. That's not the point. The point is that the scene is charged with emotional intimacy and is framed in a way that audiences have learned to associate with romance. You don't have to ship zutara to recognize this, nor does the ship not being canon change that fact. And the thing is, Bryke knows this. They know that the scene is romantic. Why else would they get rid of Zuko's scar?
any hope/ideas or slightly Shadamy crumbs in Sonic 4 movie? Or any recent canon stuff?
I've said it before, but I really hope we get a moment of Amy hugging Shadow! But honestly I'll be happy if they just have a conversation that lasts longer than five seconds lol. If anyone else has their own ideas, please share them. I'm curious 👀
As for other stuff, I think there's a good chance we'll get more crumbs if they keep doing the Twitter Takeovers. We also know that someone at IDW wants a comic where Amy and Shadow team up, so fingers crossed we get that!
I think us people on the aroace spectrum should be allowed to kill people this pride month
I am once again thinking about Zuko reaching for Katara after he just took lightning to the chest for her. He can barely move, he's in excruciating pain, and his first instinct is to make sure she's okay and try to protect her

The cognitive dissonance from zutara antis right now is truly something to behold. They've spent years insisting that zutara is a delusional fantasy with no canon basis. Fine, that's their stance. But then the live action series shows that the Painted Lady and the Blue Spirit might team up, and suddenly those same people are doomposting about where the story is headed, crying about the show being "zutara fanfiction"
If the ship truly had no basis whatsoever, more interactions between Katara and Zuko shouldn't ring any alarms. You don't freak out over a ship you're confident has no legs to stand on. The fact that antis are panicking suggests they're aware, on some level, that the chemistry and story potential are actually there. Otherwise, what exactly are they afraid of?
The concept of Katara and Zuko teaming up as the Painted Lady and the Blue Spirit and then the big reveal that they're enemies in the Crystal Catacombs
damn these pictures look bad but PAINTED SPIRIT LET'S GOOOOO!!!
Not elaborating but this is jeckole coded
I know this is dumb, but if Amy and Shadow are so much as shown in the same frame at any point in the trailer for the fourth movie I think I'll actually ascend because unfortunately I am Not Normal about them

Thinking about how their height difference is perfect for Zuko to give Katara forehead kisses
Caine fans' happiness rests on this bee's nonexistent shoulders
Zutara antis will be like "liking zutara is so misogynistic but what else do we expect from stupid fucking women"
Fun fact! The same day I posted this someone on Twitter said zutara shippers are misogynists because, according to them, most of us like Zuko more than Katara (which in my experience is not the case, but whatever) and then immediacy proceeded to call us his concubines
I dunno much about Sonic ships but ..
is Shadamy still possible (not really romantically but possibly platonically) despite the fact that Sonic's voice actor mentioned something about Sonamy? Idk if this is true but I've seen a video somewhere where people say that Sonamy is gonna be in the movie, and if Shadow and Amy were to interact in the movie, how do you think it will be like? Other than that, why do people ship Shadamy? What makes their dynamic good or possible to canon? Sorry for asking too much heh
Don't worry about it!
As much as I love shadamy, I have no expectations that it'll ever be canon. Even if we disregard sonamy, Sega doesn't want canon ships (though I do think the movies will heavily imply Sonic and Amy like each other, they just won't actually date)
I really hope we'll get to see Amy and Shadow interact in the next movie. Considering the films have had a heavy focus on friendship, I think it'd be a missed opportunity to not explore their dynamic. I'd really like to see the famous hug moment on the big screen!
For me, what makes the shadamy dynamic very lovely is that Amy is one of the few characters that brings out Shadow's soft side. He got her a thoughtful birthday gift, they go to concerts and shop together, and he's seemingly incapable of denying her anything lol. It's sweet
I hope I answered all your questions!

The anti-zutara argument that because Zuko is Fire Nation royalty, him dating Katara, someone from the Southern Water Tribe, would be politically messy, really rubs me the wrong way. The whole point of their arc (and the show in general) is about empathy and reconciliation. Saying they shouldn’t be together because of where they come from feels like reinforcing the boundaries the story is trying to dismantle. If anything, their relationship could symbolize the exact kind of unity the world needs after a century of war. Not in a cheesy "everything is magically fixed now" way, but as a sign that change and progress is possible and actually happening
Also, really? Zuko fought to prove he's not his father, not his nation's worst actions, and not the legacy he was born into… and the conclusion is that he still should be limited in who he can date/marry because of "the optics"? That's... kind of bleak?
