I think nutrek is disappointing to me because it seems written for viewers who are on their phones while watching TV. I miss show-don't-tell and characters who don't know every aspect of each other's backstory and intimate thoughts within minutes of meeting. Star Trek went from a really good instance of 90's TV to a really bad instance of 2010+'s TV, and I just think it deserves better. Million dollar CGI and bad writing is just such a disappointing thing because of the squandering of potential. And if you try to talk about this people assume it's a dogwhistle for your issue actually being.... that Trek is diverse? Yeah I sure hope it is. I said the dialogue was shitty not that I don't like the casting.
Anyways, Enterprise imo is pretty good, but I can see how the pacing was questionable before streaming let you circumvent the week long wait. But that means that we literally have a model for how it could be in today's streaming environment. There's just no excuse. The 10 episode long seasons also really limit it, because Trek is, to me, not Trek without meandering. Without filler and character development and new problems along the way. It's not called Star Beeline.
