Stepping into the open entrance room, Soval found it abustle with people. Humans were in every corner, rushing back and forth and talking to each other in quick tones. It seemed to him that they were incapable of slowing their trajectory as a species, their society simply operated faster. In the name of efficiency, it was undeniably a most logical way to live. It amazed him that they managed to move so quickly and still maintain the ability to observe the larger concepts. If his people could behave in such a manner, they would be decades ahead technologically. But Vulcans did not operate that way, to be thorough was to be logical.

The bright overhead lights caused him to strain as he gazed out into the room in search of Admiral Forrest. Chatter from the humans and the subtle sounds of his companions speaking in Vulkhansu made it difficult for him to focus on the task at hand. Humans ducked out of his way as he crossed the room, all aware of his revered status. Soval paid them no attention. From between a gap in the sea of humans, he spotted Admiral Forrest with Captain Archer and his engineer.

Picking up the hem of his robes, he started in their direction. His shoes clicked on the marble floor as he made his way through the throng, careful not to collide with an unsuspecting embassy staff member. He narrowly avoided a young ensign who hadn’t been looking precisely where he was going. Forrest and Archer were well within his reach now. In the last few feet, he failed to notice the woman on his left. She failed to notice him as well, distracted with information on her pad.

In a dramatic collision he slammed directly into her as he stepped into her path. Her body braced the impact and she began to fall backwards. Instinctively Soval reached out and grasped at her wrists to keep her fragile head from cracking against the unforgiving floor. She panted heavily, eyes wide in surprise and disbelief. The moment her eyes met his own, Soval felt as though he had been struck. Everything about her was piercing. Her hair tangled elegantly around her face and her cheeks turned rosy at the impact. Soval felt an overwhelming sense of emotion he was unable to control. This woman was to be his mate, she was perfect. All he could do was stare into her eyes, completely overcome by this sudden sense of indomitable love and desire.

After getting her footing back, she noticed his mesmerized stare. His gaze was piercing, it was as though he was gazing directly into her mind and soul. Her eyes grew wide at the starstruck look on his face. His cheeks had become green and his hair was in disarray. Immediately she recognized him as the Vulcan ambassador.

“O-oh, I’m sorry sir, I wasn’t paying attention to where I was walking, my apologies.”

Soval could do nothing but gawk at her. Shon'Ha'Lock, the engulfment. There was nothing in the universe so divine as she was, it was he who should fall to his knees and beg her forgiveness.

“It is I who should be apologizing.” His voice sounded lovestruck even to his own ears. Her cheeks darkened at his tone and his dilated pupils.

‘That’s very kind of you Ambassador. I have to be going, I’ll see you around?” She pried herself from his grasp and picked up her pad from the floor.

“Yes…I should hope so.” His response was breathy. He was keenly aware of his fellow vulcans watching him in disbelief and utter shock.
