Salem's city council voted unanimously to pursue a data center moratorium after residents - and a guillotine - pushed back on a $5.1 billion
Innovation happens every goddamn beautiful day in this country.
i have a suggestion
Imagine being trapped in a disaster zone, delirious and starving and injured and seeing a 6ft tall evil goat monster with a chainsaw walking jerkily towards your position where you cannot run or hide
the four horsemen if the apocalypse was chill
one time i was making potato soup and i needed broth for it but i was out of broth. but in my dog food cabinet there was a carton of chicken broth that i had bought for my dog. now the box did say HUMAN GRADE and the ingredients were just bog standard chicken broth. it did say something about joint health for dogs on there. but the ingredients were normal. i even compared the ingredients list to some normal person broth and they were the same. so i did put dog broth in that soup and it did taste completely normal. but i did use the dog broth.

I lost a needle I liked in my pincushion so I decided to get a strong magnet and see if I could pull it back out.
I pulled out 68.
I very rarely sew.
This was my grandmother's pincushion. How many were hers?
Finding a 68 needles in a haystack pincushion
Where you would expect to find needles!
AND YET.
(I jibbled out some more so we are at 71 and I can feel at least two more in there by sweeping the magnet across. Now hunting for my strongest one.)
tomato is perfec t size for put needle inside very soft and comfort needle
A three-circle venn-diagram where the circles are "sex workers", "the furry community", and "people working in morgues". I don't know what the overlap parts are.
Fourth circle needed: IT workers
You say that with such confidence that I am compelled to trust your vision. Personally I have no idea where this is going.
i'd say the overlap between "sex workers" and "people who work in morgues" is probably "seeing naked strangers a lot"
"professional handling of bodies of strangers"?
Putting my neck out for you folks here
Okay Iâve gone through many of the reblogs and âprefer when clients donât talk to themâ is peak
"The value of the physical form and what is done with it / how it is presented may be either sacred or immaterial depending on the beliefs of the first party, but no matter the case, the first party should have the choice to alter, modify, and impliment whatever physical aspects desired or required for the desired outcome to be achieved regardless of the aesthetic or philosophical preferences of those unaffected", but also "Everybody else thinks they know exactly what your job is and has an opinion on it despite zero first hand experience"
im not fucking joking i just found a women want me fish fear me hat on the ground

This is diabolical. Loud enough to notice, but virtually unidentifiable from a truck in motion. You pop the hood to see what's up and find nothing. You start it up and it doesn't make the noise. You go for a drive and it's fucking back. Psychological torture

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
Yâknow an awful lot of Terry Pratchettâs books are concerned with how powerful women are when they get angry and how important anger is as a driving force to defend what is right and to tackle injustice.Â
A lot of his most interesting and most deeply moral characters are angry ones. Granny Weatherwax, Sam Vimes, Tiffany Aching. All are to a large extent driven to do good by anger.
And that honestly means a lot to me.
Terry was an angry man. This is not the same as saying he was a bad man. He held a righteous fury, the kind that comes from looking at the world, and knowing just how much better it could be if only we stopped being bastards. He held a genuine belief that people can and do change the world for the better, not by big things, but by the little. He believed in the kindness of others, and that kindness means more than wishing well and prayers. He knew the difference between being good and doing good, and that you technically couldnât be the first without the latter.
He was angry at the world because he loved it, and he wanted us to feel the same, to not feel helpless, to know that something can be done, to know that anger is not just the tool of abusers and tyrants but the chisel by which The People might chip away at oppression and fear and bring it crumbling down. He gave us the drive needed to believe in hope. because he wanted to make the world better with words and not violence.
I hope he knows that he did.
đĽšđĽšđĽš Terry is loved, and missed, and through his stories is still making the world a better place. Strong work, sir. â¤ď¸

So I had this half lucid dream where I was swimming in a lake with my crush and his friends and we climbed up onto this very low dock that dipped just a little below the water. I thought âOh I want to hold a water animal!â and what I WANTED was a dolphin, but my brain couldnât quite conjure the image of a dolphin, nor could I recall the word âdolphinâ.
So after much thought as to what a dolphin looked like, a giant banana with floppy banana peel dog ears, banana peel fins, and two beady black eyes hauled itself into my lap from the waters of the lake.
And I remember thinking â... Now wait... something is not quite right with this...â
I sat looking it over for a moment until I realised, âOh I forgot a tail!â so when I looked down, the creature had a fish tail, and I was Quite Proud of how well I had recalled what a dolphin looked like from memory, and it deserved to be drawn:
And I remember
thinking â⌠Now wait⌠something is
not quite right with thisâŚâ

âThe police spend very little of their time dealing with violent criminalsâindeed, police sociologists report that only about 10% of the average police officerâs time is devoted to criminal matters of any kind. Most of the remaining 90% is spent dealing with infractions of various administrative codes and regulations: all those rules about how and where one can eat, drink, smoke, sell, sit, walk, and drive. If two people punch each other, or even draw a knife on each other, police are unlikely to get involved. Drive down the street in a car without license plates, on the other hand, and the authorities will show up instantly, threatening all sorts of dire consequences if you donât do exactly what they tell you. The police, then, are essentially just bureaucrats with weapons. Their main role in society is to bring the threat of physical forceâeven, deathâinto situations where it would never have been otherwise invoked, such as the enforcement of civic ordinances about the sale of untaxed cigarettes.â
â An excerpt from Ferguson & the Criminalization of American Life by David Graeber (via actjustly)
since i think many will have had the memory slip with just how many other atrocities have occured in the past 11 years, or are simply too young to remember, the last bit about the sale of untaxed cigarettes isnât just some hypothetical, itâs a reference to the killing of eric garner
this is the origin of the slogan âi cant breatheâ, which was revived in the wake of the killing of george floyd.

â âfriends donât look at friends like thatâ devalues friendship/platonic forms of love, pushes amatonormativity
â âhistorians will call them friendsâ devalues historians and forces complex relationships into modern simplicities, also devalues friendship/platonic forms of love
â âdo they know its legal nowâ suggests the characters are stupid, poorly suggests that this is the only barrier to their relationshipâboth of which are funny as hell
