To fully understand the Bashir/Garak thing in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, you need to understand that Garak first appears in the second episode of the series, very obviously trying to arrange a hookup with Bashir – like, it's just barely subtext – and then the network was like "what the fuck" and ordered to showrunners to knock it off with the gay shit, and as a result, Garak promptly disappears from the show for twenty episodes, next appearing in the fifth episode of season two. Can you imagine what that did to folks who were watching in real time?

Garak thought Bashir had been sent to Honeypot him. That's why he immediately started flirting. He was going to play along and try to get more information on the federation along the way, but he quickly realized that that was not the federation's intention but at that point he was invested so he just kept flirting

Love in Star Trek when there’s a character who’s regularly anywhere but their station. In TNG it’s Data being in engineering (he wants to see Geordi), in ds9 it’s Julian being in ops (he wants to gossip), and in TOS it’s Bones being on the bridge (he wants to instigate and be close to the drama).

I think the funniest thing Toby Fox could do is not have Papyrus show up in Deltarune at all and then in the post credits after you you beat the game you'd see a message appear that says "you can now play with Papyrus" and then he'd be retroactively inserted into every single chapter like some kind of new game+
