I was an adult for many years before Percy Jackson existed.
I learned about Greek mythology the way God intended, by watching the original 1981 version of Clash of the Titans movie with Sir Laurence Olivier as Zeus and stop motion effects by the legendary Ray Harryhausen.
Whatever happened to actually going to school, paying attention, being curious, becoming well-read, and wanting to learn so you don't sound like a complete ignoramus later in life...?...
I do know that in the west you people apparently don't have long-ass booklists you have to read in school, but jesus fucking christ, greek mythology is the basic for understanding texts from future literary periods, what are you doing over there???

Anyway, to answer op's question: I started with Wojciech Rzehak's Mythology when I was ten and then upgraded to Parandowski when I was fourteen.
I dont know about yall, but I was just a weird kid. I loved mythology, and initially was hooked on Egyptian, and then onto Greek and Roman myth. I was gifted a copy of Bulfinches Mythology and its still one of my base references....
