kindness is underrated in this society. the most probable cause to this is that the society deems it weak. any acts of kindness is seen as personality trait instead of the bare minimum of existing in a shared place. and the reason kindness was the subject to this label, in my opinion, is that it is quiet.

society has decided that power must be noisy. kindness doesn’t play that game. it doesn’t dominate the room. it doesn’t demand to be feared. it doesn’t shove its way into relevance. and apparently, anything that doesn’t fight to be seen must be losing in this society.

we have built a culture that rewards cruelty for being honest and punishes kindness for being fake. if you are loud and indifferent, you are mature. if you are quiet and caring, you are immature. which is hilarious actually because kindness requires restraint, emotional literacy, and strength than most people are willing to admit they lack.

kindness just quietly refuses to make the world worse. and in a society obsessed with spectacle that kind of restraint looks suspiciously like nothing at all.
