Was just thinking about how Hansry post Suchdol would be unbearable. All the details they’ve noticed about each other, all the compliments and praises and flirts they wanted to say but couldn’t to each other for months, would be free to fly and oh boy.
Like, they spend a day at Henry’s forge and he shows his lordship how he wields a hammer, where he makes his potions, where he takes a nap under a tree sometimes, where he washes his Pebbles and Mutt… and Hans smiles fondly at Henry, freely, because now he can. He can even admit to Henry how much he admires his skills, even though he knows it took a lot of sacrifices for his blacksmith boy to get to this point. He’s just so very proud of him, and even prouder to be by his side. Henry has no idea what to say, all bashful, and suggests they have some dinner then a bath in his cellar with Hans because care taking is his love langage.
At some point, just waiting for Hanush is tiring so they ride back to Trosky region to the nomad camp, so that Henry can check on his friends (reminder that the voivod’s family literally adopts Henry after he saves Tibor). And Henry shows Hans the mounted archery, which he’s ecstatic about - and very good at. And Henry gets all sheepish, smiling, and when Hans probes him to speak his mind, Henry admits that he’s always thought that Hans looks really good when he’s using a bow. His focused expression, his posture, the glint in his eyes - he looks magnificent. And Hans blushes and stammers because genuine compliments like this are NEW for them both, as unfamiliar as they are welcome.
One time, they’re hunting, chilling at their camp and talking about a bit of everything, including Sam. And Hans does admit that maybe, perhaps, sometimes, when he saw how well they got along, he was a teensy bit jealous of Sam, and tried to sort of, compete for Henry’s attention. And Henry shakes his head fondly and replies in the like of "hard to compete without any opponent, my lord. Believe me, I’ve only ever had eyes for you". And Hans laughs, sharply, briefly, because that’s his instinctive defense mechanism, but then he stops. And instead he throws himself at Henry and kisses him like a madman. Because now he can.
This is the whole motivation behind "Forging Trust" Btw. We all need a Hansry Honeymoon period.
