I'd try one now, if it comes in pink.
UNPOPULAR OPINION: A lot of "mental health issues" disappear when bills are paid, rent is secure, and the fridge is full. Peace is expensive. And pretending money doesn't affect mental health is privilege.

I really don’t like when a book advertises itself as fantasy or scifi with maybe some romance on the side and then it turns out to just be a romance with some fantasy or scifi wallpaper. Fine if you wanna read that but I don’t. Stop having sex and kill the dragon already. This is false advertising.
I signed up for political intrigue and aliens but instead you’re just having therapy speak sex with a human man. Where’s the aliens???? Kill something!
At least please fuck the dragon.
No. He needs to pay for his war crimes and doesn’t deserve any sex.

Knowing that Eridians have much longer lifespans, and also he can't be at every school on the planet at once, Ryland Grace decides to record a bunch of entertaining science lessons with Rocky's help.
Hundreds of years later, Eridian kids still get excited when the substitute teacher rolls in the 3D shape projector, because they know they're in for an episode of Friend Grace the Science Ace.
thinking about statues of Grace being built all around Erid years after his passing so he can continue to watch over Eridians as they sleep
What Grace doing, question? (inspired by all the kissing fics)

I remember when I was younger, anytime I watched a movie where the characters have to kill a scary monster/alien, I always thought the act of killing it was intended to be part of the horror. Like there’s this amazing creature that we’ve never seen before, and maybe under different circumstances we could’ve coexisted with it, but it’s trying to attack you and you have to defend yourself, but by destroying it you also destroy the ability to ever understand it and that’s sad and is supposed to make you feel conflicted.
It was not until well into my adulthood that I realized most people do not have complicated feelings about movies where people have to kill a scary alien monster, nor is that necessarily meant to be part of the narrative (unless it very obviously is). They just want the scary thing to die because it’s scary. I don’t have a real conclusion to this I just started thinking about it for some reason.

i think this captures the defining pathology of the collective social media psyche right now. we are in the thrall of people who are wantonly cruel but who also demand to be coddled at all times in every way
idea from dmthinkr on twitter
If I did an alien abduction story it would be about someone who got abducted and came back and went out to live in isolation, but when the aliens come back to try and abduct her again they discover she has prepared a series of looney tunes home alone style lethal traps, and it becomes a comedy where bugs bunny is abduction survivor with ptsd and alien grays are an infinite supply of wile e coyotes, but all the traps specifically rely on alien abduction clichés to set off.
Like she's being hit with the bright antigravity spotlight and as she's about to be dragged off she crawls behind something. Then you cut to the aliens on the ship watching a spec rising towards them, except as it comes into focus, it's a huge anvil and not a person. Cut back to the aliens frantically pushing buttons and then back to the girls on the ground as she sees a tiny little *pfft* of a distant ship explosion in the sky
Flying saucer gets lower and lower towards her, slowing, slowing. When it stops, it comes clear that it is pushing against a pair of giant rubber bands, and they slingshot the ufo back into space.
Alien leaning over her sleeping form under the covers, but we see her leaning over behind the alien until she goes like, "Ehmmm whatcha lookin at there?" Then the alien jumps up and spins arouns but when it tries to grab her, she shoves a gift wrapped box into its hands and then it opens the box which immediately explodes.
Wasn’t there an entire episode of Animaniacs with this exact premise?
There's an entire looney tunes character with this exact premise

it’s okay to do things that make your symptoms worse (as long as you’ll stay safe)
every once in a while you need to eat something yummy. or go on a walk. or a trip to the zoo. take a hot shower. cry your eyes out. dance. listen to music. draw for way to long. write. laugh. sit in a cafe with a friend. paint your nails. dye your hair. go on a run. pet a cat
sometimes you need to do things that are cathartic or make yourself feel alive. sometimes you need the reminder of why you’re fighting so hard to stay alive
this is your reminder that just because it makes your symptoms worse, it isn’t always the wrong thing to do. there can be value in these actions
If you think about it too, abled people do it all the time. Deciding to drink to excess at a party knowing they'll have a hangover. Going to a theme park knowing walking all day is going to hurt their feet by the end. We have the right to make those same decisions.
This is called Dignity of Risk, and it's an important concept in disability justice.
Everyone weighs their physical and mental/emotional health against one another in constantly shifting balance; inevitably, there are times when we choose to accept consequences to one for the sake of the other.
Infantilsing us by undermining our agency in the name of "protection" or "care" is yet another way that we are disabled by society.
