Meet Bessie Nova! She's Breyer's Stablemate cow made over into a red and white Dairy Shorthorn (some lineages are naturally polled). She was a lot of fun to paint with all those splashy white markings, and she's now looking for a new pasture to graze.

Wixom, Breyer's big chonky draft mare, got a new mane, tail, feathers and ears from fellow artist Laura Skillern Sailer, and then I gave her this beautiful black roan blanket appaloosa paint job! I had a lot of fun pulling out all the details like mottling and striped hooves.

Okay, folks. So because Etsy decided that they are banning almost all fur starting August 11, and since I am getting out of Vulture Culture art anyway, I am destashing. And I have just finished destashing THE bin--the one that had all the rare, unusual, or special fur scraps I had been saving for particular projects. I've fallen absolutely head over heels for Adonis, the Lipizzaner stallion mold Breyer released a few years back. This one (formerly a RR Pluto Gratia) has been made over into a beautifully shaded red dun. He has a few minor flaws (ah, the challenges of painting a lighter colorway!) but he is still quite the stunner.

One thing I didn't consider when deciding to try painting a silver black horse is that the contrast would make photographing it more challenging! Trust me when I say his mane and tail aren't stark white, but have a lot more subtle color in them; he's very pretty.

It's been a good while since i made a Breyer Stablemate-scale pegasus, so here you go! She's the G1 Arabian Mare, now with a haired mane and tail, and European house sparrow wings (a species that is invasive in the U.S.). Her color is a little redder than the pictures show, and I absolutely love how she came out.

The Black Stallion books were among my favorites as a kid, so why not make a little version of the main equine character? This custom is on Breyer's Little Bits/Paddock Pals scale Arabian Stallion, made over into a sunburnt black with a mohair mane and tail. I also resculpted his profile so he's not so seahorse-faced.

I finally got to customize Breyer's Winx/Emerson! She's now a gorgeous buckskin appaloosa with plenty of spots and striped hooves, too.

This splashy-spotted Ara-appaloosa is on Hartland's Lady Jewel, sculpted by Kathleen Moody (one of my favorite sculptors!) I painted all those spots and speckles by hand while sitting through multiple movies on my laptop, and she was totally worth the effort.

It's been a minute since I worked with this particular mold! Breyer's G1 Stablemate Saddlebred looks absolutely stunning in a rich dapple bay coat. She's only three inches tall, but she has a lot of attitude!

Anamar, sculpted by Sarah Minkiewicz-Breunig, sure is pretty! I've repainted this portrait of an Amazigh (Barb) stallion to a lovely bay roan.
