Legendary Gijinka Headcanon
Probably my fondest headcanon for legendary pokemon gijinkas is that they are inhumanly tall, averaging more than a foot taller than mortal gijinkas, and tend to appear statuesque and androgynous, or as any gender they feel like at the time. Whatever appearance they choose, they always have with an air of inhuman other-worldliness that grows more pronounced the further up the godly ladder they are.
Ho-oh tends to appear as a very regal warrior, wearing a cape of brilliant rainbow feathers. This cape glows like a rainbow blaze when they use their signature Sacred Fire move, and they pluck a long, burning feather sharp as a knife off it to hurl at their foes.
Lugia comes clad in brilliant silver scales, arrayed rather like a stalwart knight. Their signature Aeroblast sucks into a sphere in their hand, before being unleashed as a hurricane vortex to sweep away attackers.
Kyogre is a mystic, wearing voluminous blue and white robes and wide sleeves. They are all about the magic. Spheres of water appear in the air in a circle around them when they use their signature Origin Pulse, each of which scours the land before them with a gusher of water.
Groudon is a warlord, dressed in black and red lacquered lamellar armour protruding with spikes. Tremors follow their steps, and when they strike the ground, their signature Precipice Blades of stone erupt around them.
Where Kyogre fills the air with water with an act of will, and Groudon clears the skies with blistering light, Rayquaza is surrounded with an aura of dangerous calm at all times. They never make contact with the ground if they can help it, which helps keep the long, flowing tail(s) of their otherwise streamlined attire in order. Their (also new) signature Dragon Ascent is a fierce all-in dive that strikes with great speed and force, and leaves them vulnerable after.
Latias and Latios are virtually indistinguishable twins, only told apart by their unique tendency to appear always as one gender and colour--assuming they don’t merely swap places entirely.
Opposite the Eon Duo, Reshiram and Zekrom tend to adopt forms of pronounced contrast. Reshiram dresses in flowing white robes and hurls fireballs while zekrom’s black armour looks almost sci-fi and strikes foes down with a spear thrown like a lightning bolt. When one is tall and broad, the other is short and slight. When one is dark or feminine, the other manifests pale and masc.
I was originally going to do more, but when I realized that I had just no ideas for what aesthetic to fit Dialga and Palkia into, I put this on a shelf and forgot about it. For most of a decade. There are probably more good ones to do, but this is enough for now.
