If we talked about dog domestication the same way we do with cats:

Dogs evolved an extra muscle in their eyebrows specifically to mimic human facial expressions and manipulate us into taking care of them. We didn't choose to tame dogs, they chose to stick by human settlements for easy scavenging and took advantage of us. Dogs don't need us for survival, they still retain natural instincts to hunt and live on their own. Dogs realized that having humans in their hunting parties helped them take down larger prey and even pre-butcher the carcass. Dog evolution coincided with the agricultural revolution and were vital to early farmers, so technically dogs domesticated humans and turned us into a sedentary species.

#i read a reddit post like this yesterday in how wolves are more 'in tune' with human behaviors than dogs #and people were arguing genuinely that we 'over domesticated' dogs and i'm like well. sure #if you want to believe that. if you want a pet wolf by all means be my guest #but the reality is that well. dogs are cute! and we prioritized different traits in some breeds than others #collies shepherds malinois they're all very smart. stubborn and strong-willed tho so u have to be willing to put up with that #like do these ppl think a wolf they find in the wild is gonna be more intuitively intelligent than a bonded german shepherd.... no. lol.#sorry im getting distracted. these ppl are also insane about dogs the way they are about cats #and i say that as a cat owner! my lil baby is so sweet he can manipulate me all he wants <3 #he's my little companion we need each other
