Welcome to my art/hobby/whatever blog! My name is Kelsey - aka CrownedInMarigolds - and I've been here since 2012. Yes, I am an ancient being.
My favorite subjects to draw are primarily OC things, and the sandboxes I usually play in are Vampire the Masquerade/World of Darkness, but I really love just about anything. While I have things I consistently like and reblog, do not doubt that I will just randomly bring up things out of left field. This is my mish-mash cringe blog, just be warned when following me! I'd also like to shout out my beloved muse @thesixthplaneteer, my true love and baby-daddy. He's a very talented writer, and a lot of my personal work is intrinsically tied up with his. Khloe Osborne - my current VTM/V5 PC in my husband's chronicle, The Poisoned Peach, ATL by Night! She is a Ventrue Thinblood, in a coterie with three other Thinbloods as they try to stop the Atlanta Camarilla from enslaving the local Thinblood populace!
Parvati - another favorite character of mine. She was originally my first real Pathfinder PC that I played for a long time. I also started writing a book about her titled Crowned in Marigolds, sort of based on the Pathfinder world she had been placed in. Da da daaa, the namesake of my Tumblr! She is now my Vampire the Masquerade Ravnos Elder who is in the Ministry/Followers of Set! Parvati's Pinterest Board!

Dr. Nythanel Loken PhD- "Elder Thinblood," known later in his unlife as the Thriceborn! He's the absolute favorite and Noa's best friend and for-tax-reasons husband. Cute and full of the audacity!
Ralph - Khloe's boyfriend and fellow coterie-mate, a Nosferatu Thinblood who was given the Nos Bane (arguably it's pretty light!). Former Spec-Ops, all love and all trouble. He's probably one of my most drawn boys... He and Khlo are a part of the Stakebait Coterie - which also include Christian and Kyle! The four best friends that anyone can have, all Thinbloods, all taking on ATL's Camarilla!
Harrakhty Hamdi - Leader of our main Followers of Set group. Gold and covered in artwork, he is his own walking sarcophagus.

probably the worst attitude tumblr unintentionally cultivates is "the world out there is completely dangerous for you and no one can possibly understand you, so you should isolate yourself from it and avoid interacting with it as much as possible"

SUCH A GOOD PROSHOT !! i normally have gripes when they change the camera/angles frequently bc i want to be able to see the whole stage as if i were at the theater, but. they did such a good job with it in this filming! the editing was so dynamic & in tune with the actors’ movements that it elevated rather than distracted
Aaand this will be it for this year of ArtFight! Thank you everyone SO MUCH for the attacks, I spent like 80% of the month running after revenges! I never thought I'd be attacked so much and it truly saved my month <3 July was rough, getting to make and receive such amazing art made it a LOT better!
Overall I'm glad I could revenge everyone! I had SUCH A BIG ATTACK LIST and I could barely even touch it! Many targets got to me first, and I like doing Revenges (points....... I'm competitive ok) and chose to priorize them. If u didn't get something from me don't worry, I'll save my plans for next year >:3

Art ramblings under the cut! About things like The Art Process, things I learned about, and Grass.
Man I really am NOT consistent AKSPAKSPAKS
Can't complain tho! I did pick this year to experiment more with processes. Like, when to stop with the lineart and jump into painting, when to paint over the lineart, merge everything and paint above it, layer effects, harsh shadows only vs softer shadows and all that.
Def learned a LOT. I don't usually paint my own art as much as these, so ArtFight always pushes me when it comes to Color in general. Some processes I think worked for me better than others. Sometimes I felt like I was running on ice, the hours going by but the painting remained stuck. Other times I blacked out and the result turned out surprisingly good.
I also feel like Likeness is a weak point of mine. I struggle with it even with my own characters! (Lucian's face is my personal nightmare) Also, I *somewhat* feel like I have a certain Style when it comes to Faces (big eyes........) and def need to work on adapting it to better suit some faces and even painting finishes.
It didn't help that my month was fairly chaotic work-wise, and I was sick like half of July, so I was never sure of how many Hours I could spend in one painting. I also don't like leaving a painting on standby for too long (like too many days), because when I return to it, often I feel the urge to correct everything and/or start again and thus it never gets done!
Even now I wish to return to some attacks/revenges and paint them better!! But then again I always feel like that even a day later.
I'll choose to believe this means I'm improving with each piece that gets finished!
(def not issues with perfectionism. Of course. I would never. Pft.)

I liked doing couples quite a bit, and these are some of the best clothes I've ever draw xD James is always with like a t-shirt or shirtless, so it was good practice! I feel like I understand suits so much better now... shirt collars still bug me tho.
I also NEVER bother with background or scenery, so it too was a learning curve! Def need to learn where to focus my efforts with them. Like, on @/ulysses000 revenge I painted every. single. little grass.
Those are not a brush. Each little grass bead it a brushstroke. Why? WHYYY DID I DO THIS, only for later struggle with the light so so much, I could've spend longer with like, the nighttime-under-starlight part and less in the GRASS
oh, well. Wishing myself some better FOCUS next year!!
