Doug Ford said it "a miracle nobody died" lmao like people will praise everything and everyone else before admitting that we did what we always do and took care of our own. It wasn't a miracle. It was indigenous communities helping each other. It's the people who aren't slashing budgets and telling us it's time to stop holding our hands out despite giving us nothing and passing a bill to give us even less who are opening their doors and letting us in.
Before taking off for the Assembly of Nations, officials told Chief Paavola that there was nothing to worry about, and there was no immediate danger, insisting the smoke residents were seeing came from a smoldering fire farther away.
If it wasn't for someone else alerting the community of the danger, they never would have known. No one called. No one came. The people of Collins had 40 minutes to escape before the fire would have consumed them. This isn't a miracle. It's an utter failing of the people in charge do the bare fucking minimum of their job requirements and keep people safe and informed. We have satellite imaging of the wildfires. We have over 8 different sites currently monitoring the fires. And they were told to stay put.
This isn't a miracle. It was Lyndon Paavola, Monty Frank, Scott Frank, Mitchell Huezo, Wayne Wastaken, Mikey and Ryan Wesley, Kyle MacLaurin, and Dean Goodwin making sure their community got out. It was them risking their lives to go back and get more people because the boats they had were too small. It was Chance Paavola, a 13-year-old boy, risking his own life to save his neighbours.
They were so close to the fire that they could feel the heat from the flames. They watched their community burn, and had to flee to the water because there was no other escape. It took 3 hours for Collins to burn.
If they listened to the officials and the people in power, an entire community of indigenous people would have burned to death. If they didn't have boats, they would have burned to death.
This isn't a miracle. It's an injustice. The government did nothing. They were content to let everyone die and now want to go on press tours down playing how miserably and catastrophically they failed another indigenous community on every single level.
mutuals, you can pick me up to put me in your inventory
functionally suicidal character saying “I would die for you” to their significant other and its like. I get the sentiment, honey, but if a hot dog vendor told me he’d sell hot dogs for me, I wouldn’t feel very moved now would I
Now a functionally suicidal character saying “I will live for you”. Now that’s a dynamic I can sink my teeth into.
now how about a functionally suicidal character saying "I will sell hot dogs for you"
Hotdog vender lays down their life to protect their suicidal partner, who then takes over the hotdog stand to carry on their memory...
It's like talking to a 2010 Old Spice commercial with you people

i was training a young person at work, and she referred to sexual assault as "SA" out loud, and i immediately was like, "no, it's sexual assault, call it what it is," bc idgaf if the algorithm overlords have taught y'all that you should fear direct language, how tf do any of you expect to ever address real issues with any amount of seriousness if you can't even say the words? imagine an advocate looking a sexual assault survivor in the eyes and asking "did he grape you?" it's absolutely fucking absurd, but these young interns and new hires are coming into an environment where we deal with survivors of all different kinds of abuse, and they're coming with the mindset that the words are as bad as the actions, and that makes them shitty at the job and look juvenile af
i HATE self-censorship for a lot of reasons, but being in crisis work makes it even more frustrating. who are you censoring for? like i am being so fr, WHO are you censoring for? have you even thought it through? people who have been raped know that they have been raped. if someone attempts suicide or is grieving someone who did, saying "sewer slide" isn't going to protect them from any of the feelings. a murder victim's family isn't going to feel better bc you said "unalived" instead of murdered. if anything, it's just extremely invalidating and othering. it's saying "what happened to you is so bad that i won't even say the word," which is NOT trauma-informed care. you are not protecting survivors/victims when you self-censor. the ONLY things you protect when you self-censor are the puritanical ideologies that are being encouraged by rich fascists who want your money and obedience
say the fucking words, guys. just say the goddamn words before i go insane!!!
Reasons to use "SA" online:
Algorithm hides posts that use the "S word."
Microblogging site where posts have a character limit
Writing an article that mentions it over a dozen times; you spell it out the first time and use the acronym after that
Conversation by text (IM, whatsapp, discord, whatever) and it's faster not to type out the full words
The app you're in censors the actual words and replaces them with something else (like Steam's **** for what it thinks is profanity)
Reasons to use "SA" in person:
SIMPLE GUIDE:
Body Horror: Things that cannot happen in real life. EX: The Thing, stomach mouths, eyes on hands, etc
Gore: Fresh injuries, often severe. EX: Severed leg, gutspill, deep gashes, etc
NEITHER: Healed injuries and burns, congenital differences, missing appendages, etc. If I could theoretically go to the store and see that character browsing the isles- It isn't body horror or gore. That's just a person. *AND the amount of people that tag, not just fictional characters, but real human beings as body horror is staggering. Its not solely a fandom issue, ableism and bigotry against anyone that looks sufficiently "different" is prevalent in real life and has devastating consequences.
(Modified) from my comment left on this post.
Adding:
Self harm scars are not body horror.
Pregnant people are not body horror.
Burn scars are not body horror, that includes chemical burn scars.
Prosthetics are not body horror.
NOT having prosthetics is also not body horror.
There is no disability aid that is body horror.
Congenital differences + disabilities are not body horror.
AND acquired differences + disabilities are also not body horror.
Real people are not body horror.
If you are uncomfortable or scared because someone looks different than you that is YOUR PROBLEM. It is your responsibility to get over it, or at the very least not make it everyone else's issue. Play the quiet game.
Getting down on my knees and thanking the humans who invented dishwashers and washing machines.
InsNe that dishwashers are more efficient and easier than just washing them manually but they also use less water. It’s a win win situation
They ALSO sterilize dishes, due to operating at a far higher temperature than human hands could ever tolerate. It's a win every way.
Made this post about 15 minutes after the repair guy who fixed the pump on my dishwasher packed up his tools and left, as the dishwasher was whirring along doing my dishes from that morning.
He said the exact same thing, which I did not know before that, so spreading this knowledge.
Poorly drawn Cubone line [redo]
It's so awesome cool and progressive that the second result of looking up a trans woman on this site is a dedicated hate blog that specifically states "DNI if you defend this trans woman"
But it's okay guys, they put a sign saying "don't harass the tranny! Just let me collect all the reasons that she is unforgivable in one place :)"
It is incredibly telling that there isnt a massive anti-oneyplays fandom despite Smiling Friends being an equally popular show among tumblr queers and those guys actually doing everything gooseworx has been accused of and more "She joked about being the next Shadman!" wow that's crazy. Chris O'Neil housed Shadman and actively defended all the vile shit he did on twitter, including lolicon of real actual children. Why is nobody talking about this. Where is the anti oneyplays fan club. Or anti GameGrumps. Or (and this is a hot one) anti Dropout. Why is there only a hate club for the tranny. Why are the hate clubs only ever for the trannies? But of course, "DNI if you make it about her being trans, thats totally not why she became our target"
I would appreciate it if people reblogged this version that specifically calls out that none of the cis men in the same industry are held to the same standard even when they've done worse, continue to do worse and have not shown any sign of changing or regretting their past actions besides "I stopped saying the n word because people would get mad at me" and not because it's racist.
For god's sake the same people that deride Gooseworx on every social media site will sometimes straight up have Max "hotdiggitydemon" "Steven Jewniverse" "Steven N***averse" "Sans from Undertale calls Papyrus the nword" "Still actively racist" Gilardy profile pics with zero self reflection. And I'm supposed to take anything ever said about "holding trans women accountable " seriously? Gimme a break
Still actively racist? Where? I've heard that he's a Zionist which would also be bad (though I only vaguely remember this claim now so I can't say if it's true) but I've never heard anyone say that he's saying racist things to this day.
Kinda related to this, I will also note that Gooseworx is also someone who has not shown any sign of regret for her past actions, specifically the racist things she said. In fact, she barely addressed them. She made a really weak lackluster apology ("I'm sorry for everything I've said on streams," didn't even address a lot of the other stuff) after waiting a few days, sitting back, and doing nothing while Black fans in her community were being harassed for being "uppity." The only time she actually made a statement was a stupid joke statement about how racists should shoot themselves, again, after the controversy had moved into real life because of Plainrock.
I'm not saying there should be a hatebase stalker blog. I hate it too, and it is also not fair that some people who are as bad as or worse than Gooseworx are not receiving this level of attention. But not once do you actually make it clear that Gooseworx is also barely apologetic and has done nothing to show remorse for what she did and said.
I love how in just one post you have combined the defense of a cis man who was actively worse in every possible way and a claim that actually the trans woman isnt getting enough pushback for her past actions. All while saying "oh but I could not possibly support harassment of her. How such a hate fandom appeared is an unsolvable mystery"
Max Gilardy was not just "edgy", he was someone who drew racist carichatures involving racial slurs and then harass black people that would take offence with that. He had so many nword moments, even in recent memory (the now deleted gold digger tweet. It was an unfinished rhyme. You get the rest) that it is hard to even remember them all. He has only stopped actively engaging with right wing accounts, drawing tasteless political cartoons and posting an image of a fleshlight titled "ideal woman" within what, the last 2 years? Way after he has supposedly "regretted his past and apologised". Or when he made a blatantly racist depiction of Shigeru Miyamoto for his video about joycon drift complete with a slit eyes and a violently racist accent.
And are you serious? "He's racist" "Well I only heard that he's a zionist" Yeah that's what I said.
Remember when he made a blatantly racist depiction of Shigeru Miyamoto for his video about joycon drift complete with a slit eyes and a violently racist accent? That was in *2021*, years after his supposed change for the better
Or the fact that his Apu video is to this day used to shut up both racialised Voice Actors speaking out against racism in the industry (like ProZD, who to this day receives harassment for that very reason) as well as many minorities speaking out against racist stereotypes in popular media (primarily those from India)
And yet despite all that all he really had to do to clean his image was literally redesign his sona to be more goofy and make a cartoon show where he has fun with his ghost buddy.
And if you ever bring up the fact that he never really changed and the shift was only because he felt the winds change an army of 12 thousand queer teenagers with his profile pic and chuds with pepe pfps will show up in your comments to say that you're just a hysterical bitch who doesnt believe people can change, that his video on Apu is actually correct on everything, you're just overreacting and that Voice Actors of colour wanting to have more opportunities to actually voice people of their own ethnicities instead of a white guy doing a racist accent are all just asking for DEI
"I love how in just one post you have combined the defense of a cis man" stop. You didn't comprehend the post. I was asking for information about claims that were entirely new to me. I only knew the Steven Jewniverse/related controversies before this. Should I have used the /genq tone indicator? I didn't think I needed it, but regardless, I suggest you reframe your mindset and stop assuming all questioning is coming from a negative place. Thanks.
"And are you serious? 'He's racist' 'Well I only heard that he's a zionist' Yeah that's what I said." If you meant to say he was a Zionist, which I already knew, that's what you would've said. Zionists are racists, but all racists aren't Zionists. Because I know most people would've said Zionist if they wanted to refer to him as a Zionist, my assumption was that you were referring to other instances of racism, not his Zionism. Still, my bad.
I also, explicitly, did not say that Gooseworx is not getting enough pushback. That's a brand new sentence. I said she, as in Gooseworx, has not done enough to rectify her wrongdoings. My focus is strictly on Gooseworx and the actions she took; not once did I talk about other people's reactions to her at all outside of the hate blog being bad. The actions she takes (or doesn't take) and how people react to them are different concepts, the latter being something that I do not intend to predict. So I ask you to decouple those concepts, and to engage with what I'm actually saying, not make up brand new sentences that I never even hinted at. These concepts are not inextricably linked. I could've been writing this, totally in agreement with you that Gooseworx has seen too much pushback and that people need to give her room to make up for what she did.
And that's because I wanted to be that person when I first heard about this. I actually wanted to be forgiving, and I'm partly writing this out of disappointment in Gooseworx that she couldn't even do that bare minimum. I still remember waiting for her to say something, anything, when people were attacking Black fans in the community for their beliefs. So, until I say "she needs more pushback," you have no grounds to say I believe Gooseworx is not getting enough pushback.
But, I do, and I'm confused as to why you think her lackluster responses to her own racism should not receive pushback. And that's why I want to ask what your primary concern is. Is it for Gooseworx to be held accountable by an upset public in a reasonable manner? Is it for people to have consistent standards? Or is it to not criticize Gooseworx at all because she's just a wittle baby? Because I wanted to think it was the 2nd option, but your response to my criticisms of Gooseworx being "a claim that actually the trans woman isnt getting enough pushback for her past actions," while constantly avoiding addressing Goose's own actions and inaction is making me lean towards the 3rd option. Why don't you want to talk about what Gooseworx actually did?
I'm still right to criticize you for assuming how I feel about her actions. It's bad form in discussions like this. But you're right that I think the level of pushback she has received is not enough given how little accountability she is willing to take. I want to see people talking about this until she and all the other people you have mentioned, like OneyPlays, Game Grumps, Max, and maybe Dropout (though I don't know what they did) are actually apologetic and actually do something to fix it. Pushback is not the same thing as harassment, hate fandoms, and "snark communities," and me criticizing Gooseworx for what she did does not mean that I want to funnel attention towards unproductive hate sinks that, frankly, aren't even good at their job and make wildly misleading, bullshit claims. Nor will I let other people off the hook.
Thank you.
The entire point of my thread has never been about whether Gooseworx is a bad person or not. I genuinely do not understand why so many people are replying to this post assuming that what I'm trying to start a conversation about that. The point of the thread from the very start has been about transmisogyny. It is literally impossible to deny that the reason why there is a "hate fandom" and why it is so massive is because she is a trans woman. Regardless of if you or I think she did something wrong or if she had apologised enough, the point is that the response to all of it has be wildly disproportionate. I am talking about this not even as a "fan" of her but as a trans woman that has seen this happen to her sisters countless times. The point of the thread is not to debate people on if she's in the right, it's to get people's attention to the fact that all trans women will experience disproportionately high levels of scrutiny throughout their whole lives. That cis men who have done things that have been the same or worse can shrug off any contravercy, sometimes without even properly addressing it speaks volumes.
So having all that in mind, seeing this thread go from trans women commiserating on our experiences of living in a transmisogynistic panopticon where one fuck up can lead to you being permenantly branded as a monster incompatible with society or actual death to yet another fucking thread on every mistake of the tranny of the week and if they had been addressed enough has been maddening. Having a bunch of people show up in my mentions saying that we're "letting her off the hook" for being a trans woman makes me want to scream. All I want is for a single trans woman, at least once, to be given the same kind of grace that people reserve for cis people's mistakes. For a single trans woman to not become a target of a massive harassment campaign *even* if she is genuinely in the wrong. For a single trans woman to be allowed to continue living life as a person and not as the Evil Tranny that should be excluded from all public and private life. Yes, *even* if she's actually in the wrong
Maybe no one, cis or trans should get grace for racism. Yes cis people do receive grace for racism and are allowed to move on in a way trans women are not allowed to. Yes trans women are harassed and disproportionately held to a different and stupidly higher standard than cis people. And yes having a large harassment campaign or hate blogs dedicated to trans women shows how unfair and hateful people can be towards trans women specifically compared to cis people.
However, do you think that maybe the desire that you state of wanting a trans woman to receive the same grace as cis people on the subject of something like racism might be harmful to your own community.
I can't speak for them but do you think that all of your Black trans sisters are able to look to you and feel safe knowing that you want grace for racist actions. Being trans does not mean that you can say or do racist things and expect Black people to be okay with it. Black people consistently are told and shown that our feelings and struggles with racism don't matter and seeing you asking for grace for racism feels like another example of this. Being trans does not erase being white and the harm that can be done to Black people.
At the end of the day I personally don't think gooseworx deserves to be harassed and that its terrible that it is happening. However, taking responsibility for previous racism and apologizing is something everyone should do after doing something racist. And when I say apologizing I mean a real genuine apology, not something said to brush what happened under the rug. Cis people getting a pass for racism isn't okay because the harm to Black people has already been done and all people should be held to the same standard when it comes to racism.
And I'm not saying that people shouldn't be able to move on after doing something wrong. And I am definitely not saying that trans women don't get treated like monsters after doing something slightly considered out of line. I am saying that without remorse and actions to change previous behavior how can Black people feel safe and secure with the knowledge that it won't be done again.
I know this reply is going to most likely be taken in bad faith in the end but as a Black woman seeing the disregard of racism because the person who did it is facing transmisogyny rubs me the wrong way because I'm tired of us being expected to forgive white people for racism when it is a constant and unending hurt that we have to face everyday. I know that the focus of this post was on the hurt of transwomen but I felt the hurt of seeing Black people's concern brushed off again so I'm saying it anyway.
I dont think someone should receive grace "for being racist". When I say "grace" I do not mean "you must forgive them, like them and like everyone who likes them". What I mean is that *every* single trans woman will face not only disproportionate attention for anything she did or did not do wrong, be it something genuinely bad like racism, or something as small as saying "I dont want to date men anymore" after breaking up with a violent abuser. And no matter how they handle the situation, the end result will be that their mistakes, real or imagined, will haunt them long before they are relevant and used by people who do not actually care about what they have done, only that they should be gone from public life altogether. People will use any excuse they can to pedojacket trans women
For example, in the replies of this post someone said that "there was no witch hunt of txttletale" and listed her crimes, primarily being anti-blackness and "agreeing with isff that we should welcome pedophiles into our communities with open arms". The first one is fair, because there was an actual incident where txttletale was directly and blatantly anti-black, for which she apologised. That last one is a full on fabrication and is a case of pedojacketing. And it is not the first time this has happened to her. In 2024 tumblr user toonimals was outed as a serial pedophile and tumblr users immediately ran to connect her and maia arson crimew to him in any possible way because she reblogged 1 (ONE) post from him month prior. The story went from "txttletale reblogs from pedophiles" to "txttletale was running a pedophile ring with him", and whenever someone would point out how fucked all that is, people would say "well she sucks anyway" and not think any deeper about the implications of what's happening. This rumour would resurface later when blackfilmmakers would platform it during her period of "calling out txttletale" in which she agreed with terfs that "genderists should kill themselves". Really does not make it seem like the goal here is to "hold that woman accountable". All of it to say, people are now pedojacketing me in the tags because I used txttletales screenshot, because she famously agrees with isff, and so clearly so should I.
I should also point out that the last case of this happening to a trans woman on this site (that I am aware of) was of a black trans woman. Because all of what I am describing affect black trans women so disproportionally more, that many of them full on left the site for good. There used to be more blogs of black trans women speaking out both against the racism and the transmisogyny in the community, but every single one of them always ends up painted as a pedophile or a rapist. I talk about this all the time (although I should probably talk about it more) because these are our *most* vulnerable sisters.
I should also add that I have seen the shitshow that happened in this thread. @silverswinds and @bigkislangit09 were nagging a black woman for an addition that was not actually incorrect. They genuinely are being blatantly anti-black and I am upset I did not catch that sooner so that I could have prevented that from happening. Yesterday I've reached out to no-imply and apologised for that happening and me taking her post in an antagonistic manner. I misunderstood her question about Max G and accused her of defending him, which was genuinely wrong of me.
This post was intended for an audience of the 20 or so trans women that follow me to commisirate about being larger targets than cis people who are accused of doing same things as us. It now has 8k notes. Had I known it would reach this kind of audience I would have probably made my point clearer
I apologize because I misunderstood what you were saying. I know now that you were talking generally about how trans women face judgement and a disproportionate amounts of attention for any percieved negative actions they take. I genuinely thought you were talking exclusively about gooseworx and were not mentioning what she has said and done.
I'm glad that you apologized to no-imply because that was what was bothering me.
I wasn't trying to start some discourse, I was just genuinely upset because I've seen how many people have been defending how gooseworx handled what happened and its been disappointing to see how many Black people have been speaking out about how that made them feel only to get shut down. Its been discouraging and upsetting to see so much anti-black sentiment online and in real life recently. I don't really know much about some of the more well known bloggers on tumblr so I don't know who some of the people mentioned in the thread or in the comments are. I appreciate you providing links to what you were talking about as well. I took a bit of time to look into what was there, but unfortunately I don't have enough time right now to fully look into it (work is taking up all my time).

Bro absolutely COOKED with this.
If you ever hear the phrase "fascism is aesthetics as politics," that's what this post is talking about.
It's not about being tough on crime, because the absolute toughest most brutal measure you could take against "crime" as a social problem is to alleviate poverty, and increase access to education, healthcare and social mobility.
It's about performing "tough on crime" as an aesthetic by enacting violence against a prop, i.e. minorities and the impoverished, who are fetishized and objectified to represent "crime." They are brutalized as punishment for crime, but never with the purpose of alleviating the problem of crime.
This is why a lot of conservatives and other right wingers can get straight up angry when you suggest things like reform or social measures to reduce crime. They don't want crime to be reduced, they want an eternal war against "crime" because it provides an arena for the righteous to demonstrate virtue by brutalizing their enemies.

parents will be like “you’ve changed” and it’s just you started doing the things that make you comfortable that you always wanted to do but was too scared to express your wants and needs
if you have to rely on specific scripts or turns of phrase to socialise that's totally fine, but you must NOT reveal them to your friends while slightly drunk. it's like showing how the magic trick works, you can't do it in front of them afterwards
i like dogs a lot but i can never remember the differences between breeds (apart from the few types i've actually owned/interacted with). but i know people looove their dogs and love talking about their dogs, so whenever im talking to a dog owner i'll ask what breed it is, and no matter what breed they say i'll say "oh! i've heard they have a really nice nature :D" and they always go YESSS THEY'RE GREAT and start gushing about their dog and we have a nice conversation and i build social credit with this person. anyway i told my friends about this script a few weeks ago when slightly drunk and now every time we're in public together and a dog goes past they turn to me and ask "does that one have a nice nature?" im in a hell of my own making
