Secrets. Leo was good at keeping secrets. People could come and tell him something and he'll keep it in for forever. As soon as the crew found out, they told him anything and he'd comfort them and it helped. That's how he bonded with everyone.
Except no one was willing to help him. But keeping secrets is his thing. So he kept his mouth shut and listened and gave advice. That's all he was good for.
"How do you always know what to say?" He didn't know how to tell Hazel. Or if he should. How do you tell someone that you've experienced it all? All the horrors and mishaps of the world without them looking at you in horror and fear because "you shouldn't be alive"? Instead, he smiled.
"Just a natural gift of mine." He lied and she smiled. Oh how much he wanted to cry and weep because no one was willing to even try to see that he was in pain. So why was he doing this? He gave up on himself. He couldn't be happy, he's tried too many times. So why not try and help others? It doesn't help him at all but if it helps other people then why not.
Then people stopped coming to him for advice because they got it all off their chest. They all seemed happier. No one even noticed him anymore. He didn't eat, didn't sleep. How did they not notice? What if he just.... Stopped?
It was until they saved Nico, Hazels brother. As soon as they locked eyes they understood. They talked and got along. There was no such thing as spending the night alone anymore whether they're awake or not. No such thing as hiding things from each other because they trusted each other.
It was a miracle when they both laughed. And then cried.
"People fucking suck."
"Yeah....... Not this one." And Leo smiled.
"Not this one."
