#Repost @decolonizingtherapy with @repostsaveapp ・・・ Ancestral Connection cannot be “Caucafied.” There are many ways to relate to your ancestors. Ancestral reverence refers to the ways of living and honoring the human dead. Ancestor rituals are practiced or events that bring the living and dead into a more heightened state of connectivity. The choice isn’t whether or not to be in relationship with them- but whether these relationships will be conscious and reciprocal. We don’t need to exploit ancestor work. We don’t need big ceremonies or initiations- although sometimes that is asked of us, and coming together in community is a celebration! Our loving and wise ancestors wish well for us. Our ancestors were human. There were struggles. There were biases. There was harm done and experienced. Pretending our people were perfect is idolatry. But our connection with some of them slowly and purposefully can allow for such joy. Such tenderness. The emotional Decolonial work asks for a liberated self and community. One where we listen and receive insights. From each other, ourselves, our small younger parts, our communities, and ancestor. Including the land as ancestor. Books and psych classes cannot teach ancestral healing. Instead, it WILL only be EXPERIENCED, RECEIVED, AND FELT because OUR ANCESTORS COULD NOT. Let us languish in this journey. Enjoy this journey. Get excited about this journey. There is no quick fix. There is nothing quick and easy about reclaiming more than 500 years of colonial conditioning. Leave '🐚’ in the comments + tell us… What’s 1 small way you connect with your ancestors daily? Who did you learn this from? #ancestraltrauma #raisingconsciousness #ancestralhealing #historicaltrauma #intergenerationaltrauma #generationaltrauma #healingtrauma #emotionalhealing #innerhealing #generationalhealing #black365 #emotionalfreedom #breakthecycle #healingjourney #emotionalwellness #blacklivesmatters #blackawareness #blackmentalhealth #traumatherapy #mentalhealthawareness #traumaawareness #griefsupport #griefawareness #emotionalwellbeing #blacktherapy #mentalwealth #ancestraltrauma #raisingconsciousness #energyhealing #ancestralheal https://www.instagram.com/p/CbvQjkONVn8/?utm_medium=tumblr
Listening to the songs I was listening to when I met you almost five years ago. It feels like an eternity since we were here the first time. Maybe this song will bring you back and make it all feel alright for a single moment. Bring me back to how it was before. Take my back into the warm arms of repressed memories. Make me not know again. Bring me back to you
Healing trauma is serious business. It requires serious attention to play, creativity, joy. I’m intentionally attending to those things because they help cultivate peace in my life, and hopefully this inspires others to do the same. You don’t have to share it, but goodness I love when people do. And to my #therapist friends, it’s okay to still be healing as you help others heal. #youAREcreative ✨ #art #iamhealing #icreate #healingmyself #healingothers #traumacare #traumarecovery #traumahealing #creativity #youarehealing #healing #youareenough #peace #trauma #traumasurvivor #traumatherapy #traumatherapist #arttherapy #arttherapyheals #therapists #therapistsofinstagram #artwork #personalart #inspireothers #notanartist #creative #cultivatejoy #watercolor https://www.instagram.com/p/CLS0_JIlO6h/?igshid=1q6yb30kwex9s
I used to have loads of excuses until I got called out🙈 ✨ Being coached isn’t easy, it takes a lot for someone to be willing to open up and bare their soul, all their excuses and flaws and be willing to change themselves🥵 ✨ My mentor once told me “no one gives a fuck if you were abused when you were a kid - the sun still came up the next day. The only decision you need to make is what do you want to do with that experience now? How do you want to use it?”🤯 ✨ I was shocked, I wanted to slap him in the face and say “how dare you?!?” But he was right, nothing is going to take away what happened the only thing I can do is change the way I see it to free myself from it😬 ✨ This isn’t my approach when I coach but it really works on me because in that moment I dropped A LOT of baggage I’d been carrying and instead decided to own my behaviour instead of blaming my past💪🏽 ✨ I saw who I was being - someone who makes excuses for being stuck where they are and refusing to move on from the past - and I didn’t want to be that way anymore😤 ✨ I wanted to be someone who took what happened and despite the trauma still made their life awesome and helped others in the process. I wanted that more than I wanted to be held back by my excuses and that’s why I changed drastically from 2015 to 2018🙌🏽 ✨ I cut everyone out of my life except for my immediate family and I just worked on my mental health because the excuses I was making were being left in the past along with everything else that was holding me back✅ ✨ The past is only being kept alive in this moment through our thinking - outside of our thoughts the past is not real so it has no power over us and cannot hold us back😇 ✨ I love you have a great day💚 ✨ #movingonquotes #movingon #leavingthepastbehind #personalgrowth #personalgrowthjourney #personaldevelopmentcoach #creatingthefuture #forwardthinking #dealingwithdepression #dealingwithanxiety #overthinking #overthinker #traumarecovery #traumahealing #traumasurvivor #traumatherapy (at London, Unιted Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/p/CCbxyXmBsq4/?igshid=mlaqkbjh1kbs

Follow @pokingholes_cptsdwarrior Photo and Caption ⏬ Reposted from @latibulecounseling In a house where there is no support, protection, or comfort, children have to rely upon the limited resources of their bodies to manage overwhelming circumstances and difficult feelings. Infants have the fewest resources because their body and nervous system are still very immature and yet even a baby can disassociate. Toddlers and preschoolers have a few more options. They can use food to soothe themselves or increase adrenaline production through hyperactivity or risky behaviors. As children reach early puberty, more options become available. They can restrict food, binge, and purge, develop obsessive-compulsive patterns of behavior, act out sexually, pinch/scratch themselves, and even contemplate suicide. In adolescence, running away is now an option. Teenagers also have greater access to cigarettes and drugs or they can act out sexually. Other coping mechanisms can be developed such as getting lost in books or fantasy, parentification behavior, or overachieving. Few trauma survivors realize their behaviors represent an attempt to regulate their nervous system and the unbearable physical sensations and emotions. When you are a trauma survivor who has learned to manage overwhelming feelings using addictive, eating disorder, or unsafe behaviors, it takes more than reading a book to address both the trauma and the ways you are coping with it. Many feel so much shame for “not knowing how to deal with their problems.” What if you are here today because you have learned to survive? Self-compassion is needed in this work. Dr. Gabor Mate often says, Recovery is to recover, what are you trying to get back? You are recovering your authentic self. #trauma #addition #humandevelopment #copingskills #emotions #latibulecounseling #counselorsofinstagram #counselorsfollowcounselors #eatingdisorderrecovery #traumarecovery #traumahealing #traumainformed #traumatherapy #traumasurvivor #traumaawareness https://www.instagram.com/p/CQFeBQTDWfC/?utm_medium=tumblr
