Dissect
Dissect
On the daily, we
dissect methodically the
traumas of our pasts
The photo with this poem shows a depiction human skull with the lower back region highlighted in red. This is where your amygdala sits, that ancient part of the brain that produces the hormones that cause fear and anger.
Trauma changes our brains in such a way that this region of the brain gets fired quite a bit more often, and it shortcuts thinking. Doing trauma work with a qualified mental health professional can help you rewire your brain *again* so that your amygdala isn't firing as much.
In other words, dissecting your brain is *worth* it. Take your time to pick the right therapist for you, and do the work.
