Kaz & Jesper

Kaz/Jesper is one of those ships where I don’t necessarily want it INSTEAD OF Jesper/Wylan, because I do love Wesper, but I would’ve loved an alternate version where Kaz and Jesper were allowed to become something.

Jesper’s feelings for Kaz are already there in the books. He’s attracted to him, wants his trust badly, and gets jealous of Inej being the person Kaz lets closest. That makes sense for Jesper - Kaz is brilliant, dangerous, frustrating, and very good at making people want his approval even when he gives them crumbs. Jesper is the kind of person who laughs too loudly and acts like everything is fine, but Kaz’s opinion actually gets under his skin.

Kaz’s side is quieter, obviously, because he’s Kaz. But he does care about Jesper. He trusts him with dangerous work, gets angry when Jesper’s recklessness puts himself at risk, and in the show he full-bodily tackles Jesper out of the way of the Darkling’s Cut even with his phobia of touch. For Kaz, that is huge. He doesn’t touch people casually. He barely touches people at all. Doing that on instinct to save Jesper says a lot.

That’s the version I’d want - Kaz slowly realising Jesper isn’t only loyal because of the gang, Jesper realising Kaz does care even when he expresses it terribly, and the two of them having to figure out whether trust can become something more.
