oooo i think they've got a bit of mutual pining going on but i still love the idea of inej being the one to realise it first? both because she's got like 85% of the crows' total emotional intelligence and also there's something delightful in nina flirting with inej because she flirts with everyone and it getting more and more sincere while inej is just watching like "is she going to work out she actually means it or do i have to tell her?" (she 100% has to tell her and nina is a Blushing Mess about it)

18. Who is better at cooking?

inej no question. nina grew up in a palace, she can just about get through boiling an egg and Nothing else. also because there's something delightful in nina being like the highest of high femmes in presentation but with Zero of the like "traditionally feminine" skills that usually go along with that? (what i'm saying is. her gender is Princess/Mob Wife)

but i think inej has a lot of knowledge of cooking from her parents/aunties and uncles etc. and then in ketterdam once she's got space to do her own cooking she really launches back into it and there's probably a ravkan/suli market somewhere that she goes to and makes friends with all the vendors and buys spices in bulk. i also think she's incapable of cooking for anything less than eight people at once which isn't actually that much of a problem given that there's six crows

So when she does that, it's portrayed as romantic. But when she and Inej do that, it's, apparently, platonic? Which is a thing that can and does happen between friends but like. Do you see what I'm getting at? Double standards and all of that.

There are so many moments when they hug, share moments of feeling vulnerable and therefore feeling intimate with each other. Where Inej rests her head on Nina's shoulder or Nina leaning/depending on Inej.

Nina being the first one who throws herself at Inej after she's saved from Van Eck (and Jesper hugging both of them with his big arms).
