fresh, clean no-terf version for reblogs!
Your mom and aunts arenât on tumblr. Please warn them about this as well.Â
Thank you! Iâve been looking for the TERF-free version of this.
Hey! Iâm the age of some of your moms and aunts and the OG version of this post helped me catch my cancer in 2023. I had a hysterectomy at the beginning of 2024 and Iâve been cancer-free since then. If I hadnât read this information, I wouldnât have reported bleeding to the next doctor I saw. I might have died, and I probably would have had to undergo chemo and/or radiation, both of which I avoided.
Keep the reblogs going to save a life!

For those that donât know, Brockâs mom and dad both bailed on their kids to go dreamchasing for a bit and he had to look after NINE siblings on his own
In other words,
SHOTS FIRED
Brock also just kind of left those same 9 siblings so he could travel the world with a 12 year old and his electric rat
Brock literally hung tight until his dad came home, gave said dad a stern shit-talking about how much of a worthless deadbeat he was to his face, refused to set one foot out of Pewter City until he was sure the dude would stay and take care of his damn kids, and then left to follow the dreams he was never allowed to follow because he was too busy cleaning up his parents goddamn mistakes.
But, like, go off, I guess.
If the one in the first pic is his mom, why does she look younger than him?
Because sheâs not the one who had to raise 9 kids.

So on the 27th DeepSeek R1 dropped (a chinese version of ChatGPT that is open source, free and beats GPT's 200 dollar subscription, using less resources and less money) and the tech market just had a loss of $1,2 Trillion.

Hilarious. Absolutely hilarious.
Keep hitting them harder
They didn't introduce a bill to just repeal the $35 cap on insulin.
They introduced a bill to repeal the entire Inflation Reduction Act.
Which, among other things, means they want to get rid of:
the $35 insulin cap.
And a yearly cap of $2,000 for medications in Medicare Part D.
And allowing Medicare to negotiate for drug prices.
And requiring pharma companies to issue refunds to Medicare if the costs of their drugs rises faster than inflation
And an elimination of copays in Medicare Part D for vaccines like tetanus and rabies
And an expansion of eligibility for low-income subsidies for Medicare
Saying they want to eliminate just the insulin cap is understating their desire to fuck people over.
You can report this if you see it! This is a great way to help people in LA who are scrambling to find temporary housing. THOUSANDS of people are displaced right now and landlords and rental companies are taking advantage. Katherine Spiers shows you how to report.
Cite CA Penal Code 396 - "California Penal Code section 396 prohibits excessive and unjustified increases in the prices of essential consumer goods and services, construction services, hotel lodging, and residential rental properties during and shortly after a declared state of emergency or local emergency."
Report to DCBA.LACOUNTY.GOV or call 1-800-593-8222.
You can also call and shame the landlords / rental companies directly.
Donation centers are currently OVERFLOWING. We don't need more donations of stuff, we need more people attacking these landlords and not letting them get away with this shit.
Bob Bonta (CA AG) has been very vocally warning people about price gouging, putting out a consumer alert about it last week and promising to crack down on people who pull this shit.
You can report price gouging to the attorney general's office as well as making local reports. The DBCA direct link for reporting is here (select "consumer protection" at the top of the page and choose "price gouging" on the dropdown menu on the "Complaint Type" page); I think it's probably best to make the report to the state AG for enforcement.
Here are the limitations for rent specifically:
It is unlawful for any person, business, or other entity, to increase the rental price advertised, offered, or charged for housing, to an existing or prospective tenant, by more than 10 percent. A greater rental price increase is not unlawful if that person can prove that the increase is directly attributable to additional costs for repairs or additions beyond normal maintenance that were amortized over the rental term that caused the rent to be increased greater than 10 percent or that an increase was contractually agreed to by the tenant prior to the proclamation or declaration. This does not authorize a landlord to charge a price greater than the amount authorized by a local rent control ordinance. It is unlawful for a person, business, or other entity to evict any residential tenant of residential housing and rent or offer to rent to another person at a rental price greater than the evicted tenant could be charged under Penal Code section 396. It shall not be a violation for a person, business, or other entity to continue an eviction process that was lawfully begun prior to the proclamation or declaration of emergency.
Price gouging protections are in place for LA county until at least 1/7/2026 as a result of this emergency.
About ten, fifteen years ago I wrote a story about a guy living in a Capitalist dystopia. His walls, furniture, and tableware are all covered in smart displays. Basically animated wallpaper. It's sold as being able to turn your room or objects into anything - A nice forest view, outer space, a fantasy realm... but the companies that run this stuff keep sneaking ads in.
It gets so bad he's always being woken up by adverts that offer insomnia cures and better bedding that play when he tries to sleep.
So he buys the ad-free tier, and it's great... for a few months. And then he starts getting adverts from 'premium partners'. So he goes up a level... and the same thing happens.
So he jailbreaks his wallpaper and sends all the ad servers to 0.0.0.0 and voila... he can sleep.
Until this SWAT team blows his door off and drag him off to jail. The Ad companies are suing him for loss of revenue for the products he' notionally have bought if he'd watched their adverts, based on some weird 'The average consumer buys X products with an average value of Y' calculation.
The judge is like 'well I dun wanna annoy the sponsors' so he RICO's this guy's house and possessions and sends him to jail.
... which is a nice relaxed non-volent offender jail for the corporately disenfranchised. But because these people have no money... there's no ads and now he's happy because the only place he's free... is in prison.
Which at the time was a bit much and now it's like: Called it.
Elon's suing companies for not advertising because he's losing revenue. He's also cranking the price of Ad Free Twitter. Disney and Amazon play adverts on their paid service when services used to be free because of the adverts... and now you have to pay to watch the adverts or go up a couple of tiers.
And google's going around freaking out about ad-blockers.
OP did it hurt when Apollo's dodgeball hit you and made you write that story?

the trolley problem vs. systemic oppression: a comic.
The Palace of Odysseus
I think I had an epiphany about the layout of Odysseusâ palace in the Odyssey today. It might be really obvious to other people but I canât resist a rabbithole!
NB Iâm just working with translations here, not the original text, using the Rieu for quotations
Penelopeâs quarters and the womenâs quarters:
- these seem to be upstairs but with easy access to the megaron - âwise Penelope came down from her apartment, and they drew up a chair for her by the fireâ (Book 19) and sheâs always described as going up to her bedroom to cry herself to sleep. It is not unusual in Mycenaean palace complexes to have more than one storey. She has access to the megaron (the hall) from her private quarters, as she comes down with her maids to speak to the suitors in there. From the megaron we are told there is a door that leads to the womenâs quarters, which would seem to be in the same place as both Penelope and the maids seem to be locked out of the megaron by closing the doors to the hall that can be locked: Book 19, Eurycleia âlocked the doors leading from the fine hallâ behind her when she goes back to the womenâs quarters, and she does this again in Book 21 just before the Suitors get slaughtered, to stop the maids coming down to help and Penelope from getting involved.
So, a suite of rooms upstairs, the maids rooms (where, presumably, the looms are), next to Penelopeâs (and Odysseusâ) room, for ease of servitude.
Telemachusâ room:
Heâs no longer a child, so wouldnât be in the womenâs spaces, and does not sleep up in the womenâs and Penelopeâs quarters: when Eurycleia has locked the doors from the hall to the womenâs quarters, and he is done helping Odysseus hide the weapons, âhe went off through the hall to find his way by torchlight to the bedroom where he always sleptâ. This sounds like itâs off the megaron somewhere, but not through the locked doors or upstairs.
So, a ground-floor room, somewhere off the megaron.
The Storeroom:
We get a little description of where the storeroom is in Books 21 and 22.
- Penelope goes to get the Great Bow at the start of Book 21: âShe then made her way with her ladies to a store-room in a distant corner of the palace where her lord's treasure was kept - bronze, gold and 1o wrought iron. Here too was the supple bow and quiver full of deadly arrows which had been given to him by his friend the godlike Iphitus,â
- Melanthius tells the Suitors he will go to the store room: â âThe big door into the courtyard is alarmingly near, and the mouth of the passage is dangerously narrow: one strong man could keep us all back single-handed. But let me fetch you some armour to put on from the store-roomâ ⌠So Melanthius the goatherd went up by devious ways through the palace to Odysseus store-room, where he helped himself to a dozen shields and spearsâŚâ
In the first passage, the storeroom is tucked away and Penelope doesnât seem to need to go through the megaron to access it (as when she comes into that hall to speak to the suitors, they seem surprised) and in the second Melanthius sounds like he has to follow a twisty route to get to the storeroom. So, it must be accessible from the megaron, but also isnât next to it, and is accessible from other parts of the building too, which would make it difficult for it to be open and yet still inaccessible to the women from their quarters. Iâm imagining it down a corridor that comes off the megaron, with a door to the room itself that Penelope opens with a key she normally keeps in her room, and then which she leaves open or, at least, isnât described as closing, suggesting how Ody and Tele access it in Book 22. However, Odysseus and Telemachus seem to have had access to the storeroom in Book 19 when theyâre putting away the weapons from the hall, without the need of a key. So, it warrants asking: are there two storerooms? One that Penelope keeps the gold and Odysseusâ bow in, thatâs tucked away, and another one which is more regularly open and contains armour and weapons and is accessed via the megaron? It would be pretty sensible to have two different rooms for things you wanted guests to be able to access and others that you do not.
So, two storerooms: one accessible from the upper rooms and down a corridor somewhere, and the one with the armour in it, with a door that can be closed, but off the megaron, through an entrance that canât be barred.
The great hall/megaron:
Given the similarity between this area of the palace complex in Mycenae, Pylos and Tiryns, would also reasonably expect the one in Ithaca to be the same.
(Iâve nicked an internet image here)
Nb thereâs an opening in the roof above the hearth in most reconstructions, just like in the Minoan Knossos palace throne room reconstruction.
The king sits on the throne opposite the fire, unable to be seen from the porch. Guests would enter through the front porch and sit here by the columns, waiting to be called in by a herald. This is where Odysseus sits when a beggar in the palace, and where Irus the other beggar finds him in Book 18. Itâs also where Odysseus and his friends stand, blocking the threshold for the suitors, in Book 22 when the slaughter begins. It could have had doors that are closed - in Book 18, Odysseus fights Irus âon the polished threshold in front of the high doorsâ, and in Book 22, Melanthius tells Agelaus that âthe big door to the courtyard is alarmingly nearâ, but I donât know if the original word is âdoorâ or âportal/openingâ. And, Odysseus sends Philoetius to bind closed the gates of the courtyard so no one can get out of the palace compound - if they get out of the megaron they still canât get out of the palace. So are these doors closed? Is there an actual door?
This porch âdoorâ does seem to be different to the ones leading from the megaron to the womenâsâ quarters: when Odysseus is sending Eumaeus to speak to Eurycleia to get her to lock the womenâsâ quarter doors in Book 21, Philoetius is binding shut the gates in the courtyard at the same time:
âWithout a word Eurycleia went and locked the doors leading out of the great hall. At the same time Philoetius slipped quietly out and barred the door leading into the courtyard, which he made fast with a ship's hawser of reeds that was lying under the colonnade. This done, he went in and sat down on the stool he had left, with his eyes fixed on Odysseus.â
So, they must be different doors. Itâs also not described that the porch doors are physically closed. That might be instantly suspicious, I would guess.
The side door:
Thereâs a moment in Book 22 where Odysseus tells Eumaeus to guard the âside doorâ in the megaron:
âNow let into the solid masonry of the wall there was a side door, on the same level as the raised threshold of the hall, that gave access to a passage. It was usually kept firmly shut with close-fitting doors. Odysseus told the swineherd to stand on guard by this side door, to which there was only one approach.â
This is the same passage that Melanthius describes as âdangerously narrowâ. Agelaus seems convinced a man could âclimb to the side door and and tell the people and raise the alarm?â This sounds to me like this is a kind of Sally port/emergency exit, like the one we find at Mycenae:
This is an extremely small doorway, limiting access or egress to one person at a time, and passage that goes through the external walls themselves, at the back of the citadel where the ravines tower over the city and itâs very sheltered. The interesting description of the âside doorâ in the megaron of Odysseusâ palace and the way Agelaus says you must âclimb upâ to it and would then be outside the city possibly means itâs not immediately accessible, a little way up the wall, which is why Odysseus only needs one person to guard it, but is a shortcut out of the palace. Itâs also such a fussy detail and one that isnât referred to again that it makes it seem very real, like the poet is referring to a real place he has seen or been in.
The Courtyard:
We know it has gates because Philoetius locks them, but also Eumaeus describes them in Book 17: âAthene are buildings beyond buildings; the courtyard wall with its coping is a fine piece of work and those folding doors are true defence. No one could storm it.â
We also know thereâs a pile of dung âin profusion at the gate, awaiting removal by Odysseusâ servants for use as manure around the estateâ (book 17), and poor Doggo Argus is lying in it.
We also know it has mills: in Book 20, a woman grinding corn in one of âthe kingâs hand-millsâ in âa building nearbyâ can be heard speaking by Odysseus, originally lying in the porch is now standing outside it, so they must be in the courtyard.
It possibly has a well - Eurycleia orders the maids to go get water form âthe wellâ, although given its proximity to the fountain where the people draw their water (book 17), that might be what is being referred to. But, again, any good stronghold is going to have its own water supply, and the maids came back from the well âsoonâ, so I reckon it would have its own in the courtyard.
The palace complex overall:
From all these details, combined with what we know of Ithaca being much smaller, almost âbackwaterâ kingdom compared to those of Mycenae and Tiryns, and those citadels being on high ground, hereâs what Iâve managed to extrapolate:
What do you reckon?
LMAAAAAOOOO
BLOOD PLAGUE.....2!!!
emperor kuzco was clearly gay
hes 19, with unlimited power, and he ainât got a gf. the only time we see him interact with any women his own age is when heâs rejecting like 7 of them rapid fire. he pretends to date pacha in a gag that lasts like 10 solid minutes. listen to me god damnit
Okay, but just in case anyone is coming to tumblr dot com for my hot takes on 20+ year old kids' movies: Kuzco super WAS gay (or at least coded as such) and of course, I didn't get it until I watched it as a gay grownup.
He is played obviously camp and dramatic, for a start, and there is the aforementioned "hate your hair/not likely/yikes yikes yikes/let me guess you have a great personality" summary dismissal of all his potential brides. Then he spends dinner asking Yzma about Kronk ("so he seems nice? He's what, in his late twenties?") and otherwise being slightly obsessed with him.
Then there is the whole Adventure of Doom with Pacha, him being ever huffy about the Kiss of Life, and then the restaurant gag where Kuzco takes to playing Pacha's fake wife and dressing up in ladies' clothing with great gusto (reinforced by the waitress' "bless you for coming out in public" remark when Pacha says they're on their honeymoon). Then when he is finally de-llamafied, we don't see him paired off with the obligatory girl from the lineup earlier, as might otherwise be expected in a Disney movie. Instead he is still single, but goes to found family it up with Pacha, Chica, Kronk, etc, which dare we remark is a very queer trope.
In short, I have no idea how a Disney movie with no white people (all the characters are Indigenous/people of color), a gay king, cross-dressing jokes, and the most offbeat plot of all time actually ever got made (can you imagine the Family Friendly Mouse doing that today? Let us also talk about Kronk because he is a brilliant deconstruction of both toxic masculinity and the musclebound henchman stereotype.) Other than that this was the Chaos Hour of animated movies in the late 90s/early 2000s, and yes.
So yes. There you have it. I will not be taking criticism at this time.
In response to the question âHow did a movie like this get made at all much less by fucking Disney?â there was a recent Vulture article that outlines the whole shit show of a history behind this film according to everyone (writers, directors, VAs, Stings) involved. The gist of the story is that they fucked up making a whole, true-to-form Disney musical that never came to see the light of day SO BADLY that Disney switched directors, locked the writerâs room, and didnât review a single script until weeks after the film was in theaters.
Please, read this article if you have some time. This story is wild, and involves directors being pitted against each other Bake-Off style and a shockingly intimate documentary created by the wife of Sting who, himself was heartbroken by the decimation of the songs he wrote for the film including cutting a fantastic Yzma villain song sung by Eartha Kitt that is SO DAMN GOOD but would not ever have fit the more nailed-down Yzma we would eventually come to know and love. Itâs so catchy though, Iâm doubling up on calls to action but please listen now:
holy shit read the article. itâs worth it and completely batshit
This is fucking insane
I've never adequately appreciated the batshit brilliance of this joke, I've taken it for granted
We watched this with the FC literally last night so I'm delighted to reblog this again. What a fucking movie.
Just said to @petermorwood last night, "I'd say it's time for a rewatch." Gonna do that right now. (If I have to sit here doing this Mailchimp crap, at least I can have Yzma yelling "Why do we even have this lever?!" in the background.
Sweatbox Documentary ( Full Unedited Version)
Remember that time that Trudie Styler was allowed to make a Making Of Documentary about Kingdom of the Sun/Emperor's New Groove because her husband (Sting) was hired to do the music and this was part of his contract, but the doc showed how much of a disaster the making of this movie was so Disney refused to release it but then it got leaked on the internet and now the internet archive has it?
