Tufted Titmouse in a fairy pose ,from the previous winter. Tupelo meadow ,Central park.
listened to a silly podcast about a forgotten weird thing on the Internet from around 2012 yesterday. and it gave me serious and considered advice on classical composition.
at this moment pathologic 3 is a shostakovich's eighth string quartet simulator
particularly thinking about these chords
at the beginning of the fourth movement. which were very clearly a reflection of shostakovich's fear of a "knock on the door" (i.e., the authorities coming to take him away), when coupled with the scene at the beginning of the game where they are, in fact, knocking on the door.
also this dies irae motif (same movement). which should not need to be explained, but which does also appear in the p2 soundtrack.
also bringing marble nest into it a bit: the sheer number of dead names you find in that game vs. the sheer number of times shostakovich used his musical 'signature' in this quartet:
(this is just a fugue of it.)
the signature itself is spelled D-Eb-C-B in non-german notation but in german notation (which shostakovich used) it is spelled D-S-C-H. it shows up a lot in shostakovich's music in general but this piece really uses it constantly. because:
“I started thinking that if some day I die, nobody is likely to write a work in memory of me, so I had better write one myself. The title page should carry the dedication: ‘To the memory of the composer of this quartet’ ”
which daniil thinks very similar things to a couple of times over the course of the game:
thinking that his epitaph won't have any reference to his achievements
'daniil dankovsky is dead'
the Think description of little's desk in the theatre
...and the NUMEROUS times he tells little something along the lines of 'i don't plan to be alive for much longer'
Paws UP, y'all! (Pierogi)

don't be mean to yourself that's you
you live there
Your misbehaving boyfriend is not funny to me
Like so many times when people are like "I've never met an autistic person who has [insert "stereotypical" trait] it's like. That's because they're not there! They're not in the spaces you can access because they can't access them! And denying their existence will make that worse!
i love you “boring” trans people. i love you trans people who prefer to keep your transition or exact feelings on gender private. i love you trans people who dont want to be leaders or activists or role models. i love you trans people who just wish to live your lives. i love you trans people who read books quietly or go to work and chat. i love you trans people with “boring” or “normal” lives
im literally always saying this

it's wild how lack of willingness to show large amounts of your naked body in public is conflated with a discomfort or insecurity about said body. like obviously if people are motivated by those things that's also fine but it's like. "if you like your body you should want to wear as small a swimsuit as possible; the only reason to get """modest""" swimwear is if you're insecure or have religious motivations" so it's weird feeling like nah my body is awesome I just don't want every rando at the municipal pool to have visual access to it? lol. how I feel about my body is unrelated to whether strangers have a right to view it
If you’re pining you need to stop and pick a different tree. You know, spruce it up a little
I’m still proud of this post. It’s evergreen
UPDATE: I told this to my dad and he almost threw his tablet across the room
Not really a fan of Bridgerton, but I am a fan of Nicola Coughlan's response to everyone shitting on her for being "too big" to play a love interest

grug dont have to change!
i’ve been thinking about this video nonstop since the first time i saw it
the jaunty walk perfectly in time with the music. the tip of the hat the unaware or uncaring bystanders. the shaky camera with random zooming. the fact that this is seemingly happening in a park. this is peak media i can’t get over it
