i will say that devon price this month reblogging a post about how bad egg culture is form three years ago is really fucking funny when you consider the post includes this bit
"covid made me bisexual" guy is, if nothing else, hilarious. not even a "the pandemic lockdown lead me to exploring parts of myself" but claiming long covid made you bisexual. though the post ends with this
learning that long covid bisexual guy was a well respected and well known blogger on here is an experience. maybe he was otherwise smart but his thoughts on gender and sexuality do no paint a good picture of him or people who took him seriously.
okay so going through all of the blogs on the post and they're all at best centrist libs and at worst blatant reactionaries. dont even need to go far either. the first post for all of these blogs is "centrism is good actually," ranting about communists, or zionism. so long covid bisexual guy is in good company, but its near impossible to give devon price the benefit of the doubt for reblogging this three year old post with barely over a hundred notes. thats not a post which comes back on your dash every once in a while. thats one that if you want to reblog it years later you need to go out of your way to look for, which is notoriously hard to do on this site. what precisely makes you decide to go searching for a post that starts out complaining about egg culture, already not great, and ends with rants about "transggendereds" and someone citing the fucking kinsey scale other than anti trans politics? not giving a shit? i doubt theres an answer that doesnt reflect poorly on price.
you can say "writing a genderbend manga doesnt make someone an egg" but then theyll say some shit like "to become a girl who is loved by girls is the desire of all humanity" like ok. come on
"it would be so good if it was good" will haunt you but "it's extremely good, except for the one or two parts which are so bad it's genuinely kind of insulting" will straight up drive you insane
one has you making posts like "okay but if the author UNDERSTOOD the POLITICAL IMPLICATIONS of the story they were telling, and leaned into it, it would actually be a really interesting exploration of..."
the other has you pacing your bedroom at one in the morning going "why. why would you ever in a million years do it like that. genuinely what possible thought process was involved. was the writer possessed by a fucking ghost or something."
