My name is Sarah and I live in London. I've had an incredibly eye opening journey these last few months and the more I have discussed it with people, the more I have realised that there are lots of people like me out there, who have had a tough time and I thought they might appreciate knowing how I have got through. I think we all learn from each other and are inspired by the journeys of others, be they successful or otherwise. From chronic back pain, the breakdown of my marriage, mid life acne (yes, really!), a solid relationship with Waitrose's cake section, a weakness for sugared brioche, a love of Pinot Grigio, I've been there. And I'm starting to believe that many many women of my age have been through some if not all of this and far more. I feel that I am already coming out the other side and there has been one solid factor in this. Wait for it... It's been good food. honestly, I never thought I'd be someone who would become evangelical about good nutrition, but I am that person now! Luckily I've not yet bored my friends to tears over it, hence why I'm here sharing it with you. So I hope to show you that good, clean, healthy food can genuinely help your body to heal. I have not an ounce of training in this area, but I have followed blog after blog, read recipe books and the food labels of just about every item for sale in my local supermarket! I have learnt by trial and error what works for me, and I hope that you will be able to do the same. Heal thyself, as someone said once. I think that if your mind is poorly, your body will show it, and vice versa. I took up mindfulness meditation at the same time as changing my way of eating, and if can feel a real difference in my ability to cope if I have failed to do it for a while. However, despite my love of the Headspace app and the wonderful Andy Puddicombe, I am going to show you in this blog what I did with my nutrition not my mind. If you want to check out Headspace, I can't recommend it highly enough. Start with a Smoothie is the name of the blog because that is just how I started. I bit the bullet and shoved down a lumpy, sweet concoction which I threw together, and that is how I ended up here. It was healthy, I knew that. But it was DELICIOUS too. And that was the beginning. Clear skinned, happy, energetic, down two whole dress sizes, and on a far more even keel than I have been for years. Nothing is perfect, believe me, but the change in only a few months has been amazing. Join me?
