Dude
He’s just up there
Story time about something similar, actually!
I’m a pilot, and thus like 85% of my friends are ALSO pilots and one of them is just this delightful older guy that named Bruce. Bruce is a man of simple pleasures, he likes mediocre bbq and to take his vintage J3 Piper Cub out like, every other week just to have the old girl not look so sad in the hangar. We also live about 30NM south of an air base and, according to him, there was a squad of fighter planes out and they wanted some guys to go up in their planes for intercept practice (with pay, obviously) so the guys could get real time practice looking for unfamiliar aircraft.
Bruce, a man who doesn’t need it but wants to say he flew with some fighter jets, takes them up on their offer and takes the old girl up for them. Now, if you’re unfamiliar with a J3, this thing is slow as shit. Like, horrendously slow. And there was a decent headwind that day blowing in off the coast and Bruce gets the brilliant idea that he’s going to do something they can’t. So Bruce turns that old cub into the wind and just flies slow enough that he’s genuinely flying BACKWARDS and the next thing he knows are these three jets screaming past him, wings wobbling something fierce as they’re all about to stall, and the pilots yelling over the radio like “How are you DOING THAT”
He likes to say he owned the air force something awful that day.
Porky Pig’s speech pattern deconstructed.
BRUH
:O that was amazing
I always thought they were just random sounds. That’s kind of mind-blowing.
I’m over this man for making it seem so simple lol
“And nobody can do that and that’s why I have job security.”
This is from a documentary called ” I know that voice” and it’s on youtube
@ducktracy you may have already seen this but it’s super cool!
*walks into american followers bedrooms* *in gentle voice* hows it going champ

the anniversary of library paste man’s death is in four days.
RIP Library Paste Man
Library Paste Man has been dead for 116 sticky, sticky years.
idk if this is a contreversial take or not but i think that the ideal internet experience is being able to remove specific things (triggers, nsfw, gore) if you truly dont want to see them but overall being also shown things you aren’t interested in. i think one of my fave things about tumblr is seeing like 50% of my dash be about fandoms im not in, bands i dont like and quotes from books i dont want to read rather than this endless feedback loop of tiktok showing me ‘exactly what i want to see’ in a trap to keep me online as long as possible and blind to communities outside of my own. i want a mix of curating my own experience and a healthy dose of content i don’t already know i want to see, yknow?
These tags. They need to be shared.
I, also, love my for you page. I'm on it most of the time. It's one of the ways I explore new things. I don't want to be in an echo chamber.
"immortality sucks because all your friends die" all your friends die anyway. those we do not mourn are those who mourn us.
"immortality sucks because you forget who you are" we always forget who we are. do you remember who you were at four years of age? who you were at fourteen? "who i am" is a shadow cast on the wall.
"immortality sucks because" skill issue. skill issue. skill issue. give me your liver
what's your "if I won the lottery I wouldn't tell anyone but there would be signs" thing? mine is getting a fully green kitchen

something ive noticed after being a hobby cosplayer for years is that in a lot of places the general consensus seems to be that wearing costumes in public is weird and/or socially unacceptable, but whenever I'm in costume in public while on the train to the con venue or having a photoshoot on location or something, people by and large fucking love my costume. they think it's so cool. kids think my costume rocks. their parents are impressed that I made it myself. random grandmas tell me my armor kicks ass. I was at a japanese garden once and barely got around to doing the photoshoot me and my homies came there to do because swathes of visitors who had never heard the word cosplay before were lining up to take a picture with me.
it's the same thing with adjacent hobbies like larp or reenactment or fursuiting, the general image of the hobby is that you're weird nerds (and probably also sex perverts) for playing dressup despite not being a child but when you're actually in costume the response from random normies is categorically positive. I inevitably get weird looks from the kind of people who think having a tattoo is an affront to god but they give me that look for just existing with blue hair and pronouns too and the people who actually talk to me always do because they wanted to tell me they love my costume. and the response that always gets me the most is when they say it looks fun but they would never dare to do the same. it's such a shame. why did wearing a silly little costume have to become an act of bravery.
A couple of years ago, a bunch of Star Wars costumers went to a state park and met for a photo shoot. The organizer notified the park staff that we were coming only to take still pictures, no video, no commercial use items. We gathered together and lugged our stuff into a fairly low traffic location, set up a portable changing tent for those who needed it and got dressed.
Our scout troopers and Jedi and Sith posed against the rock crags and forests and in dappled sunlight. We got great pictures.
And every once in a while someone would come around the bend and find something TRULY unexpected.
Most people scrambled backwards or ducked behind the nearest tree, apparently thinking they'd stumbled into a film shoot of some kind. A few took pictures from a distance.
Once we explained, all of them were delighted. How strange. How wonderous. Two little boys took pictures with every single costumer, a woman sat on a rock and just watched, one guy called home to FaceTime his brother.
The world is mundane and predictable and painful sometimes. And breaks to that are magic. Little bursts of a world turned on its head. In the best way.
I still hold close the memory of going to a con and opting to get a cheaper hotel with a longer walk, so naturally congoers were mixed with business as usual folks. And here I am, completely painted in bright blue with a glowing harpoon, eye patch and massive FX sharp teeth (it was Undyne from Undertale), but to my surprise, I was approached by a suit who's curiousity was roused, asking what was going on, then asked if they could take a picture with me and merrily went on their way.
After over a decade of going to anime conventions, I only feel stronger that cosplay is absolutely for everyone, even people who have no idea what it is. It's almost always been compliments, smiles, hugs and shoutouts, no matter if I was wearing a monster costume, a magical girl outfit or giant mechanical hands. I truly believe that cosplay is an act of love, and while not every single person will see it that way, there's always someone who will.
I used to go to a con that, one weekend, was sharing the hotel/conference space with a massive corporate something-or-other. Very buttoned-up, straight-laced, serious people in suits and ties. And to a one, they thought that the people walking around in these bright, colorful, outlandish costumes were cool as hell.
favorite thing ever is leaving this gif in Ao3 comment sections
because A: a shocking amount of people don't know abt the 'img src=' trick to add images into comment sections, and B: well over half of the authors seem to really enjoy the sentiment
and this post has served its purposw
tbh my music taste is so hard to describe like it’s literally everything except for the songs i dont like
my friend just told me that there's a secret second dashboard that solely contains posts from people you've turned on post notifications for, and when i click the link in the messages it opens it within the tumblr app, so the tumblr app also has a secret second dashboard for post notification blogs, and the only way to access it is to open the link for it within the app.
i literally love tumblr
i have a private pinned post that just has a link to this dashboard on it, it's great. two dashboards for life
wow! i was really hoping someone would organically reverse-engineer this and find that dash.
here are a few other "secret" dashboards:
Posts from your "crushes"
"What you missed" (will be empty if you already visit Tumblr every day)
"Trending"
these are all just taking existing feeds of content and putting them in a dashboard-like format... the "Stuff for you" tab/feed is the same idea.
I swear if the link in the original post is a virus I'll be so upset.
nope! i hovered over the link and this popped up on the bottom of the browser. here's all the links in order:

https://www.tumblr.com/timeline/crushes
https://www.tumblr.com/timeline/what_you_missed
https://www.tumblr.com/timeline/trending

I accidentally clicked on stuff for you without realizing it the other day and just spent awhile scrolling and totally lost. Who are all these people that I haven’t followed? 😅
