I’m sobbing 🦭
I know we’ve all talked about how fun it is that Robinson and Siddig fully support Garak/Bashir as a ship, even played it that way, but I just want to point out how very refreshing that is. Like, in a day and age where creators of shows and actors get actively mad at fans for shipping and making fanfiction, to have actors who not adore their characters and their fans, but also openly and widely talk about the ship between them and support it is just so comforting. They acted out a fanfic where their characters were in a relationship. They came onto Lower Decks to do an alternate universe version of their characters where they’re married.
I was one of the folks burned by Supernatural who openly made fun of their fans within the actual show. I’ve seen shit repeatedly and constantly from writers and actors of media I enjoy who dislike fan content, and don’t support queer ships. While Star Trek as a whole has many, many issues, a lot of their actors turned out to be very good people who support their fans and understand the culture it brings. Robinson and Siddig are two beautiful examples of actors who love what they do, and love the people that are brought together because of it.
Garashir's offically canon everyone!
Rewatching DS9 with the meta knowledge I have on Garak and Bashir’s relationship, how the actors played it, and being a shipper makes their first episode together hilarious. You’d have to get a diamond encrusted machete to attempt to hack through the tension, also Garak is high the entire time, Bashir is desperately hiding that he’s a augment, and he fell for the one guy on the station that could definitely find that out if he didn’t know already. Beautiful. No notes.

"Friendship" The Official Star Trek(R) Fact Files(TM)
I just found out that Garak is only in THIRTY SEVEN episodes (out of ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY THREE).
How? I just. Mad respect to all the Julian Bashir/Garak shippers who have made him feel like he is in most of the show.
Sooooo guess who started watching Deep Space Nine…
I’m so mentally sane about them, guys.
me, watching ds9 with my dad:
*julian asks garak to hurry up on fixing his trousers*
*time passes*
*garak’s shop blows up*
my dad: oh no! Julian’s trousers!
Concept of Julian Bashir on Cardassia working in hospitals and constantly having like 12 Cardassian babies hanging off of him for the heat that he radiates. Then he goes to pick up dinner after work from a local restaurant and the cashier’s hand lingers when handing him back his food and just kinda holds his hand for a long time marvelling at his warmth. Then he goes home to his lizard man husband who attaches himself like an invasive species as they lie in bed to fall asleep together. Julian Bashir is content.

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine I 3.07 Civil Defense
ANDREW ROBINSON as ELIM GARAK, ALEXANDER SIDDIG as Dr. BASHIR in DEEP SPACE NINE, S3.E20 - Improbable Cause (1995)
- They exiled you. - That's right. And left me to live out my days with nothing to look forward to but having lunch with you.

Come back to draw them for a little canon celebration 💞🎊
When Garak got to see Julian's ~deepest~ fantasy and it was just Julian suavely reenacting things he did with Garak earlier.
