Thinking of a possible scenario about some of the last living humans in Aberrant Epoch. The initial population drop in 1998 from the wars with evolved and monsters being unleashed, to many humans deciding to join them, to the countless being used as a resource in the aftermath. Centuries of evolved mismanagement leads to human numbers dwindling down and crashing to less than 2000 after a major disease outbreak.

Victor Gideon is 554 years old, having surpassed his own expectations and still healthy and thriving. He is trying to find ways to keep the human species going but it is not just for purely selfish reasons of science and appetite. They represent the remnants of the existence he once had, and while it was mostly painful it did lead to his evolutions and wildly successful life. He appreciates the humans for being a stepping stone to greatness.

Deep down Victor is sad for them and he doesn't fully understand why. He theorizes it could be due to them being the last ties to a life he never got to live. He is very grateful and arrogant for his power and abilities, and would absolutely choose to evolve if he was taken back to the year 1996 and presented with the T-EV95 again. But once in a blue moon he dreams of what it would have been like to be raised with a good family and lead a normal life.

Victor treats a broken bone and some dental issues in one of the humans. He feels more gentle towards them now than in centuries past and it both deeply irks him and makes him feel good. He hates that good feeling and the sadness for them but it remains and he does his damndest to get rid of such pesky emotions for what is essentially prey.

Owlet-nightjars are not nightjars, and are not in the nightjar order Caprimulgiformes. (And are also not closely related to owls).

They are in their own order.

They are not as closely related to nightjars or frogmouths, as previously thought.

This species is beloved and deeply desired by birdwatchers, and if I saw one I would pee my pants. (One my top 10 birds!)

"Problematic height gap" was a concept made up by people who have never seen the kind of short people who go out to interact with the public. Those fucking gnomes fear nothing. If they're at the exact right height to bite you in the nuts, they will.

And insanely tall people come in two categories: If they're merely tall, and not large, they're just skittish fragile giraffes. The most dangerous thing they can do to you is stand up too fast, faint because their blood pressure dropped, and hit you on the way down like a felled tree.

The tall people who are also large are mostly chill in my experience. Sure some of them must be assholes just out of statistical inevitability, but it takes some edge out of life knowing that someone could try to hit you with a tank and all they're going to find out is whether or not a Leopard 2A7 has a crumple zone. And most importantly they are never tactically prepared for getting bit in the nuts.

I really like how people draw Victor Gideon too. They don't forget his texture and imperfections and they sometimes even add a few rolls which is cool with me. Victor is after all a 54 year old man and he has a bit of of a chin and some softness to him anyways. And I don't care if artists make him more fat either I think it's adorable! Because I just love people bringing their own touch to this fantastic villain.

At the end of the day nothing about Victor Gideon's mutations are about being a conventionally attractive, chiseled, or photo shopped person.
