there is a very real tendency of teenagers with anxiety disorders self diagnosing with considerably more stigmatized and impairing mental illnesses (e.g. schizophrenia, DID, personality disorders), but the best response to that isn't to get angry with them for "appropriating" lol. instead you show them coping resources for the problems they're actually having and deemphasize diagnostic categories in general. if an 18 year old is claiming to have alzheimer's, they're probably making an innocent mistake and are in genuine distress. be kind.
Also I think this trend comes, at least in part, from how brushed aside anxiety disorders can be. If your parents and teachers dismiss you with 'oh everyone feels anxious', then inevitably you're going to start thinking that there must be something else going on with you
”You must feel very scared right now; let’s talk about how to help you personally, tailored to your symptoms” will always be more helpful than “stop faking (X) for attention”. If theyre that desperate for attention or an explanation, something is wrong.
And like, at least some of them are probably right. Yeah these disorders are less common than things like anxiety disorders, but they are more common than you think they are. Like, they probably shouldn't self diagnose without doing a reasonable amount of research and talking to a professional if possible, but not every single one of them is wrong, and being wrong about something is not the same thing as lying about having something you don't. Be nice to teenagers they're still learning
i also think that we're too wrapped up in validating help with diagnosis. Like if someone has anxiety, but not to the point that they'll be diagnosed with a disorder, they can still do stuff to relieve anxiety.
Diagnosis are extremely useful to get profissional help and stuff, but you can do stuff to help yourself before getting a diagnosis.
Even if it's asking someone to change habits sound you, you can just say "oh sorry i get anxious/have trouble remembering appointments/whatever else"
fun fact: firefox can get around many "oops you already read 3 articles this month" paywalls very easily
step 1: click the reader mode button in your address bar
step 2: f5
that's it! that's all the steps.
This is also available on mobile!
I've ran into a few websites that are smart enough to not load the full text of the article before slapping the paywall popup on top, but reader mode has a very high success rate for burrowing under the wall.
Reader mode is also a very easy workaround for flashing design elements, a font you hate, poor contrast, video and chatbots that overlay content, etc. etc. You can easily set the font, text size, colours, page width, and line spacing to whatever is comfortable for you.
Reader mode also gives a reading time estimate at the top, and there's a built in text-to-voice feature, if those are useful for you.
take it.

today i got locked out of watching youtube videos entirely on adblock grounds, so i did some tinkering.
ublock does not, in fact, seem to circumvent this, but i did find out something new through circumstance as well as trial and error:
bf told me two bits of information that turned out to be rather useful. 1) he hasn't really gotten the youtube adblock notifications much. 2) his work laptop blocks youtube cookies completely. (this annoys him a bit because a couple quality of life features function off cookies)
so when i was trying to troubleshoot how to wrangle youtube into letting me listen to music without constantly throwing intrusive as hell ads at me, i decided to block youtube cookies just to see what would happen.
well wouldn't you know, it has stopped complaining about ads being blocked entirely. for now anyway.
TL;DR: looks like youtube is using cookies to check for adblockers, so blocking them seems to cause it to leave you alone.
Saw a post like this with negative outlook so I asked for it to be fixed
I look at your art and i cannot even comprehend how you do it. Do you use procreate? what brushes do you use? I’m deeply in love with your work
Hi anon
Thank you so much for your message and for taking the time to contact me. 💗 Sorry about the late reply, I was quite busy in the past two weeks. 😳
Ok! So, to answer your question, I very rarely use Procreate. I used it a bit when I installed it on my iPad one-two years ago: it was exciting and new but I must admit that now, I work mainly on Photoshop. Don't get me wrong, Procreate is an amazing app, you can create tons of effects but I'm much more confortable with Photoshop. However, this artwork and this one were created using mainly Procreate.
More recently (= about 10 days ago 🤓), I bought an app called Rebelle 6 that emulates oil painting and watercolors. I used it on this Sherlock portrait but also on this one on Twitter. If you see this kind of textures in my art from now on, it's thanks to this app.
These were the exceptions, though. As far as the rest is concerned, I use Photoshop CS6 with an Xp-pen tablet. I tried all kind of brushes but the ones I always come back to give my artworks an "old painting" effect are the Mar-ka brushes and the Deharme brushes. (look at this artist's DA page, you have several sets of brushes available). However, sometimes, I change the settings: I add more texture, change the spacing, the brush dynamic, etc…(everything can be found in the PS brush settings). You have to see what works best for you.
On some artworks, I also add a paper texture a bit like the one below, at a low opacity (layer: soft light). Make sure it's a bit grainy and don't hesitate to adjust it using the "brightness/contrast" or "levels" tools.
However, the opacity and the paper vary according to the artwork. What can work for one artwork is not going to work for another one because of the lighting, the exposure, the effects you want to give. You'll have to try different textures and opacities to reach the effect you want.
The rest is…my style. 🤓 I did a post HERE about how I draw realistic portraits and HERE about a step by step (it was several years ago though so I don't talk about textures, just how I block colors and how I draw realistically).
I hope I managed to answer your question. Thank you for enjoying my work so much and see you at the end of the week with a Stede Bonnet portrait (and then, I'll go on a break to rest a bit ^^)
Do any of u have decent recipes that are like 5 ingredients (not including spices) and take 45 mins or less to prepare i gotta stop eating sandwiches for dinner
yeah hang on
ignore the title of this google doc because it's a long story but it's a really solid recipe for southwest chicken alfredo
this is a vegetarian potato curry recipe that's about 75% spices; once you get the potatoes in there you can really do whatever you want with it
this is literally just pasta, broccoli, and cheese babey and you can live off that shit for DAYS it makes such a big portion
bro this spinach/pesto/3 cheese flatbread is so fucking tasty bro
also you can make the flatbread yourself it's super quick!!
oh hey I'm eating this white chickpea chili right now, much like the curry it's mostly spices and you can do p much do whatever you want with it
don't let the name fool you these potatoes are delicious any time. not just breakfast.
this is slightly more than five ingredient when you add them together but if you have time and really wanna fuckin treat yourself I recommend these chicken strips + this cornbread + either these potatoes or these buttered veggies on the side.
These are my two favorite comfort foods. They're very easy to make and dont take long to cook.
Garlic butter rice
Orzo mac and cheese (comes out a little bit soupy)
this recipe for gogumabap (sweet potato and rice) saved my life when i couldn't eat hardly anything for a long time. the recipe itself calls for a heavy bottomed pot but you can absolutely use a rice cooker and put the rice and diced sweet potato in together and just let the machine do its thing
Up front, the cooking is about an hour for the basic bird, but it's actually like, five minutes of actual work and then waiting for an hour, and if you're just one person, you can then make about 6 more fast meals out of it.
Basic chicken roasting (with roast potatoes) which can become chicken potato salad later, or a curry, or pretty much anything you toss already cooked chicken into. The instructions are long and presume zero previous experience with cooking, it literally takes longer to read through them than it actually does for me to get a chicken into the oven.
Two of my go-to easy meals, below the cut for space:
Simple chicken dumpling and rice soup
Sauteed vegetable with noodles

Reblog In 5 seconds for good luck
this worked last night lets go for round two
Here's uBlock Origin's official guide to bypassing youtube's anti-adblock popups, updated weekly. Please share widely. Don't reward google for their predatory anti-consumer bullshit
To summarize: 1. Get uBlock Origin and make sure it's updated to the latest version. 2. Click on the gear icon to get to the dashboard, go to "Filter lists", and make sure that "uBlock filters - Quick fixes" is up to date
Repeat those steps any time you get another popup (google and uBlock are having an arms race right now so it might stop working at any moment), and if you have any more problems, read the reddit thread for troubleshooting advice
Ok but like. What the fuck is there to do on the internet anymore?
Idk when I was younger, you could just go and go and find exciting new websites full of whatever cool things you wanted to explore. An overabundance of ways to occupy your time online.
Now, it’s just… Social media. That’s it. Social media and news sites. And I’m tired of social media and I’m tired of the news.
Am I just like completely inept at finding new things or has the internet just fallen apart that much with the problems of SEO and web 3.0 turning everything into a same-site prison?
Long collection of resources under the cut.

ALSO you should consider browsing Virtual Pet List and seeing if there are any pet sites you might be interested in playing. There is a whole genre of browser games right under your nose
Another one that I just found recently is this, which is a whole collection of blogs, organized by topic!
A collection of 1,966 blogs about every topic
Look guys the real internet IS STILL THERE I’m going to cry
hey how do you color blonde hair??
Here's some colors I'd recommend using, first of all. The rule is more about the saturation than the actual color, so no need to just color pick from these examples!!
Here's how I'd shade the hair. Note that my method works better with lineart, but here you can see what colors I'd use
It's not much, but hope it helps somewhat

i think we should publicly execute every CEO
this is happening across all browsers, any time your adblocker slips, it ticks it up. it doesn't seem to be rolling out globally though, only select users in select markets, but it'll trickle in like every other change. it starts with a popup that says adblockers aren't allowed, then you get timed popups, then you get the three strikes. just catch it before it gets that far.
firefox users: purge your ublock caches and redownload them all, then relaunch your browser, and keep on top of the updates if they don't automatically. youtube keeps changing how the ads are served and it can take an hour or two for the lists to update to reflect it.
If you're on Windows 11 like I am for my "main" computer (in my case for school purposes and because I can't get Baldur's Gate 3 to play on Linux), then you might've seen this annoying piece of AI shit show up on your taskbar:
This is Windows Copilot, and it's fulled by the same shit ChatGPT is fuelled by. There is currently no way to uninstall it, but there is a way to deactivate it completely, which I've linked below. It's very easy, and it took me like, 2 minutes to do.
Remove Copilot from your Windows 11 computer using one of these two methods, depending on your Windows edition.
